Yep. Pick up the first trade cheap on ebay and try it out. The art isn't the greatest, but it gets better as the series goes on. Frankly, the art is secondary to me anyways. It's the story that matters most.cobra_commander wrote:Thats a lot of recommendations for Walking Dead400yrs wrote:I agree. I'll have to check out Fell. I've been hearing alot of good things about that book.D_N_G wrote: Image has some great dark themed books like Walking Dead and Fell (definitely some of the best stuff out there) Grab the First WD graphic novel for 10 bucks, you wont be disappointed
Is it really that good?

I'm also getting the wolvie origins title. Here's a question for you - what do you think of the art on this book? The Leaf wrote:Here'sy sub list.

Ennis, Dillon and Fabry have a fan for life in me after Preacher.cobra_commander wrote: I'm also getting the wolvie origins title. Here's a question for you - what do you think of the art on this book?
I love everything they do.
I think Steve Dillon does great expressions and you have to get out of the "Mcnivin or Turner" style of 100% posing all the time art.
If you are not used to it, it probably seems too clean, but I love it. I totaly fell into the world of Preacher every time I read it.

My current pull list (in no particular order, but the ones in bold I'm enoying/loking forward to most each issue; titles with an asterisk I'm thinking of dropping):
All Star Superman
American Way
52 A+++++
New Avengers
JSA Classified
JLA Classified
Justice League of America
Uncanny X Men
X Men
X Factor
Thunderbolts - it's picking up in light of CW
Blue Beetle
Shadowpact
Secret Six
Checkmate
All New Atom*
Martian Manhunter
Jonah Hex
Squadron Supreme
Uncle Sam and the Freedom Force
Ultimate Fantastic Four
Ultimate Spider-man
Ultimate X-Men
Ultimates 2
Ultimate Wolverine/Hulk - hah!
Cyberforce
Civil War
Civil War Frontline
Devi
Snakewoman
Sadhu
Flash*
Task Force One
Teen Titans
Outsiders
Eternals
Nextwave: Agents of Hate
Agents of Atlas
Astro City and JS of A as and when
I actually managed to drop a couple of titles recently - LoSH and Superman/Batman. Looking at the list I suspect i am reading far too many comics each month...

Jonah Hex
American Virgin
Bite Club: Vampire Crime Unit
Y: The Last Man
The Walking Dead
Punisher (MAX, Garth Ennis)
Following Cerebus (a Cerebus fanzine type publication)
Zoom Suit
Ultimate Hulk vs. Wolverine (if issue #3 ever comes out!!!)
American Splendor (new series from Vertigo, I have a complete run of the Pekar published books and almost all the Dark Horse issues)
Se7en (7 issue mini series, one for each of the seven deadly sins, man am I anxious to get this book, I love the movie!)
Gumby (written by Bob Burden, wish he would get back to the Flaming Carrot!)
Begoths Comics (at least the first issue, I find goth chicks hot!
)
Bucky O'Hare Graphic Novel (for my buddy, Knightt)
hmm, guess that's it, at least for what should be coming out in the next couple of months.

One of the staff at my LCS joked today that it is now being published as annuals - one of the other staff believed him! How can you rip a character in two with beautiful Leneil Yu art and then...not publish the rest of the darn series?Brother J wrote:let's see, I'll look at my last few Previews order forms and tell you what I'm buying:

I picked up the first issue of Gumby, lots of fun and a great book to get to share with your kids, they should really enjoy it even though Gumby is from a previous generation.cobra_commander wrote:Now those 2 sound interesting!Brother J wrote:let's see, I'll look at my last few Previews order forms and tell you what I'm buying:

What company is this and how is the shipping ?Their smallest discount is 36%. Most books fall under that or 40%. But there are quite a few with a 50%. Some select issues (usually something eventful like a #1 or a major turning point - something that's heavily promoted by the publisher) even get a 75% discount - as with Astro City and Authority this month. No minimum order. You're not locked in as a monthly subscriber unless you opt to do so. Great packing and customer service. Flexible shipping options - once a month, every two weeks, ever week, UPS, USPS, etc. They will bag and board for 12 cents per b&b, but they don't advertise it.Code: Select all

Shipping is great. Excellent packing. All my comics are individually bagged and boarded (but that's an optional, unadvertised service), then all together placed in a poly bag that's very thick and much bigger than magazine size. That is wrapped in cardboard. That is then surrounded by packing peanuts.
I'm not sure how they calculate shipping, but my guess is a certain rate per box. Although the number of comics I get each month varies, the shipping is consistently the same. For those items that are in my cart right now, the shipping options are:
UPS
Monthly: $7.05 (this is what I always choose)
Biweekly: $13.05
Weekly: $17.05
USPS Priority Mail
Monthly: $8.80
Biweekly: $15.80
Weekly: $21.80
USPS Media Mail
Monthly: $7.30
Biweekly: $14.30
Weekly: $20.30
