I just sold him one (not mint) today for $50. What's going on?

I think X-O has always had the strongest fan supportof all the the books. Plus it has always seemed to be harder to find than any of the other Gold books. It also ended with a BIN, so it just proves it never hurts to have a reserve with a high BIN cause you never know what someone else is willing to pay.
I personally think it should be a solid $40 to $50 book.

dino and I were chatting last night early am and this auction ended,
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 46840&rd=1
I asked him what he thought was up with that and this one too:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 46633&rd=1
actually in reverse order, he said he might as well give his xo gold a shot at $200, why not?

Correction, XO Manowar revival!wrunow wrote:It is what it is, I think we are only seeing the beginning of the VALIANT revival.
We just need one Valiant character to get a movie to really blow things open...
I personally like the XO #0 gold out of all the gold Valiants myself, but I'd probably not dish out more than $20 bucks for one.

Actually, xo's have been kind of quiet till this, the real action has been on Harby's all week, look how many pinks sold for $80-$100 and the bid counts on some of the pre-unity runs with coupons.

This could be the maddenning of the crowd; people jumping on the band wagon. Also, people are taking notice of BLOODSHOT 0 GOLD, thinking it is a solid investment because of what the PLAT (ERROR COPY) is selling for. History shows us prices are going to peak, go down and level off to stable fair market value (or crash like back in 95-96).
Just my two cents.

Dang! I was surprised when one I listed in my store sold for $50 last week.
$200!!!???. That's insane! I've sold maybe 10 of these in the last 2 years for
$20 a pop. I'm down to just my own single copy now. Crap!

I never have had many XO 0 golds. But I can tell you this: they have never fetched $100+.
I just submitted 8 BS 0 golds to CGC. I wish I had kept them with me now.
I visited CGC to drop them off, by the way. If you ever had any reservations about sending them books, they are unfounded. The place is a fortress, and superbly disguised.

Here are some of the reasons for the price hikes in my opinion:
1) Economy is getting better, more people are willing to dish out money
2) Comic market is reviving from the slump since the 90's crash
3) Speculators wants a piece of the action.
4) More fans joining back into the comic books, especially those that quit during the Crash.
3) Hype - Wizard, Overstreet? nuff said
I just wished I finished collecting the pre-unity runs before all the hype started. Been having such a hard time on ebay getting sniped by people with outrageous bids.

Yeah it would seem that now is not a great time to fill in those early key issues. Personally I say be patient. I don't really know what is causing this current flurry of people bidding so high for certain Valiant right now, but unless someone does something with these characters soon it will surely be short lived.

I agree... there is no precedent for books to double or quadruple overnightDaniel Jackson wrote:Yeah it would seem that now is not a great time to fill in those early key issues. AND to maintain those prices.
Spikes in the market can go either way...
Obviously, they can be bad decisions and look like really bad prices later...
but on the other hand, 10 years from now they may look fantastic.
It depends on whether the buyer(s) have immediate plans to sell...
or if they are buying to hold for the long term.
We used to talk about how cheap Valiant was on Ebay in 1998.
Lately, we've said how we wish we could buy at even the 2001 prices.
What will we say in three more years?

Oh Greg that is certainly the million dollar question! Though its still a stretch for anyone here to be making a million bucks from peddling Valiants.greg wrote:I agree... there is no precedent for books to double or quadruple overnightDaniel Jackson wrote:Yeah it would seem that now is not a great time to fill in those early key issues.
