authentic or forged?

Post by tanord »

check out this link and decide if it is an authentic signature or if it's forged. I thought Joe Quesada doesn't sign out his whole name. I thought when he signed, he only made the "Q" mark and a few scribbles. This is not my auction.

yeah, every Quesada book I have is signed just with the Q. I don't know why he would have changed it, but I also don't know why anyone would have forged it. Autographed comics usually don't go for any kind of premium unless they are part of some certified limited edition.

I concur. I too am a pretty big fan of his stuff and all of the comics I own that he's signed has been his trademarked Q.

He signed for me three different times, always just a Q and the year

I have books he signed early in his career with his full name. It just takes more time, which is why he does the Q. It looks authentic, so I wouldn't worry too much about it.

When you think about it though why would anyone go to the trouble of faking a worthless Solar #23? Even back in the day it would have probably only cost you five bucks or so.

Quesada sig

Hi all.
I am the seller of that Quesda issue in question. I had actually bought from someone else off ebay about 2 yrs ago. So I could not tell you the validity of it.

I simply assumed is was authentic.

Oh Yes, I used to deal in comics in the early nineties. Was right there when Valiant started and put out some of the best reads ever. It was an exiting time in comics. Kept almost all of my Valiants til now which I am selling them (does not mean I don't like them) :) . I just recently began reading them again, I think Ultimate Spider-Man drew some of my interest back in. I am surprised that no comic company saw what Valiant was doing so well and tried to use their storytelling ways.

Does Acclaim still hold these properties? Are they doing anything with them?

Well from what I understand, Accliam still holds the rights to all the characters created during Valiant's reign except the old Gold Key characters (Magnus, Solar & Turok). Acclaim still holds the license for Turok tho. They did try to bring the chars back into comics with the launch of VH2, but it was badly received and they canceled the titles during mid run (Unity 2000). At the moment, I dont think Acclaim has any plans to bring them out again.
