Since items sent via the post office don't ever leave post office custody until they're delivered, we sadly must assume that the great beauracracy that is the USPS has struck again....either the box is sitting in some warehouse somewhere, or the box was x-rayed and an ambitious employee saw what it was and nipped it for themselves.
The only other options are (A) JJ didn't send them (for whatever reason) or (B) Dino received the books and is pretending he didn't.
Since those other options are not probablE at best, I'll stick with the USPS.

Man I feel sorry fo all of you guys. The USPS Sucks they are always tearing up or losing something. I sent out BDay invites and it took them
3 1/2 weeks to get one of them 5 miles don't know how they managed that But I'm wishing for the best outcome for you all

I'm still holding out hope, however, I also have little faith in the USPS. If they were swiped by a worker gone postal, it will be interesting to see if they start appearing on ebay sometime in the near future.
What's the deal with media mail? Does it operate under different regs than standard mail?

Just curious on why these books wasn't shipped out via Priority Mail with delivery confirmation & insurance? I know it cost more, but given the value of these books, I think it would've have been a more better choice. Media Mail is just too dangerous to use at times given the fact that USPS has the right to rummage through it and god knows how those postage workers will flip thru them books. Just looking at the long list of people interested, I'm sure everyone would've been willing to chip in a lil more for the extra shipping costs.

The books were budgeted at $50 shipping each way. Janet asked me how much insurance I wanted and I think I said something like $600 or $700 worth and tracking, I'm not sure what happened with that. She is checking into all that now and should be emailing me shortly with the results. I got two more packages today but the mail room was closed so I wont be able to get them till tomorrow - Im hoping one is the magnus 0's. If someone from the post office stole them I would seriously consider tracking him down and well I havnt decided the rest yet but I have plenty of ideas.Escaflown4 wrote:Just curious on why these books wasn't shipped out via Priority Mail with delivery confirmation & insurance? i really doubt that anyone in the post office would steal these books-We on the boards might, if given the chance, but really, outside of this board...that box could sit for 3 years in plain view in a comic shop with a $5 price tag and go unsold...you guys are getting paranoid...
don't get me wrong-very valuable to us-not so valuable to the rest of the comic collecting world, let alone the world in general...
take a deep breath...let it out...things are gonna be okay.

THEY ARRIVED!!!!! Janet emailed me and told me they were delivered on Saturday (I can only pick up packages during the week and I worked till too late Monday). i would be happy
BUT
I have to send them back:( Seems bob forgot to sign most of them, he just numbered them. The only ones he signed were the ones that were personalised.
At any rate I'll have pictures for you very shortly. If anyone wants a pic of thier specific number email me at shamdasa@usc.edu

YES. I'm just sorting those ones out now and should even be able to get them out today, otherwise Thursday for sure. They will all have delivery confirmation so those of you with personalised messages (about 5 people) should be getting a pm from me with the confirmation number.architect wrote:Sooooooo are you able to mail out the ones that Mr. Layton personalized?
