Total Ripoffs and Bad Parodies

Post by Unblessed »

This thread is for those books we find in the $0.001 bin of the flea market. These books are complete parodies and/or rip offs of legitimate comics out there.

Allow me to introduce you to two books I have in my collection:

- Blackthorne Publishing Incorporated published: Cold Blooded Chamleon Commandos in 1986 in a black and white comic..

- Not to be outdone, Spotlight Comics published Samurai Squirrel - Master of the Sword- in 1986 in a black and white comic

So, what parodies are out there? Oh, for the not as intuitive, Usagi Yojimbo and the TMNT were the ones being parodied/ripped off.

I don't have, but I do recall an "Adolescent Radioactive Kung-Fu Hamsters" (or something pretty close to that) book that was also a TMNT parody.

And then I have "Trek Teens" which is a Star Trek parody setting the characters in high school. The cover has Spock, dressed like a 50's "rebel" teenager (leather jacket, white t-shirt, blue jeans) leaning against a brick wall with "Live Long & Prosper" spray painted grafitti style on it.

I'm sure I have others too as I collected parody comic books at one time. But that's just what comes to mind with no digging.
I would agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong.

Adolescent Radioactive Black Belt Hamsters was actually pretty good with the later issues featuring some decent Sam Kieth work.

There were a ton of these books out there that were made just to capitalize on the whole "mutant animal warrior/Black and White comics" craze

:D Well, don't blame me if you don't like it, the artwork is pretty bad in the first four or five issues, Kieth didn't take over until #6.

I thought TMNT itself was a rip-off of Ronin. :P

Parody/tribute to Frank Miller's Daredevil. 8-) (and I was waiting for someone to comment on that. )

I think the Hamsters books you have must be the ones that were put out in the '90's (I think) by Parody Press. I don't own any of those. I just own a complete run of the Eclipse ARBBH including the four 3-D issues.
