Some books came with the coupon in only 1 staple, only one end of the staple holding it,and some not even in the staple at all.If Harbinger #1 ever got back to $100 you would see fake coupons out the woodwork. If it was a printed coupon on an actual page then the book would have had to been cut to redeem it.But since it was just like a subscription form tag that could be found anywhere up and down the spine of the book there's no way to tell if it's an original or not.

In your $100 scenario, that is probably true...
(Would the ones "with coupon in-staple" be more, then?)

"if it ever gets back to $100..."
(Can you really believe we're saying it and meaning it?)

I'm still around, it's just very hectic and we're in full swing putting together Wizard #151.
We're donating a ton of comics and I snagged some Valiants for a rainy day:
Unity 2000 1, 2
Bloodshot 5
Eternal Warrior 9, 13, 22
H.A.R.D. Corps 1, 7, 9
Harbinger 15, 16, 17, 20
Magnus 14, 17, 18, 19, 21, 22, 23
Shadowman 4, 8, 11, 13, 17,
Solar 18, 22, 23, 26, 27, 28, 36
X-O 14, 17, 18, 20, 21

I was hoping for more Unity books. That's what I really want to read. Oh well.

If that is true, how will we know if he gives the correct answer?? :P
Quite simply, only he would know it, silly.

Good point, plus... if he gives the wrong answer...
he will be cast into the Gorge of Eternal Peril.

But my point was, why did he have to tell us? Why not just think it, write it down, or run outside and pee it into the snow?

For me, one of the main reasons I enjoyed early Valiant was the continuity. Here you had a company that essentially had two universes, one set in the 1990s and one set in the 4000s, and somehow they kept both interesting. Most companies can’t keep one universe straight, and in the early days Valiant successfully managed two, all the while planting clues of what was to come. Most of us have read Rai #0, the bridge to the future, more than any other comic.

DC has tried to explain Superman’s powers in a half-dozen ways over the years, and there’s still controversy. Valiant knew where it was going from the beginning.

Another reason was that Valiant often tried to keep everything scientific, even their version of magic. Magic wasn’t supernatural, it was just another form of energy in the universe. Now look at Marvel…radiation, magic, gods, forces, mutants, elementals, unexplainables…it’s difficult to imagine all of these interacting and battling and still creating tension and suspense. After all, wouldn’t the Scarlet Witch be the most powerful being in the universe, even if she met the Living Tribunal? In Valiant, the person who made the most sense to be the most powerful, Solar, was the most powerful. Unfortunately, after Shooter left, Valiant fell down the Marvel hole.

I couldn't agree more. However, after Shooter left I would say that some of the stories weren't even worthy of Marvel. :/ Just my two cents worth.

And why hasn't anyone warned Ryan away from those comics he picked up? There's hardly a good one in the bunch. Someone please send him a batch of Unity! Do we really want him reading about the Eternal Enemy?!?

Unity Saga #1 - 4

Post by edlockman »

Ryan (the Wizard guy):

If you want, I have an extra set of the Unity Saga 1 - 4, the trade collection that encompasses the entire shebang (except Valiant's weak attempt to cash in on strip-mining a-la Marvel Style: ValiantComics.Com Members will know that the book I am referring to is.. Unity: The Lost Chapter).

Anyway, please let me know if you would like this and to what address that I can send this to you. Please feel free to e-mail me at edlockman@hotmail.com or PM me here at ValiantComics.com.
Thanks and hope to hear from you.
