Holy wow.

Just ONCE I want to get a great deal on a Valiant issue. For over a year now, I've read on this board about amazing quarter bin finds and such, but I have eight comic stores in my area, I've scouted them all, and the best deals I've ever gotten are 50 cents on a Magnus #57 error and cover price for the blue Rai tpbs (which may not be as rare as once thought).

I haven't found a single pre-Unity or limited edition issue for less than the mid-1990s prices, except for the going prices here and on ebay. Where's my bargain find, people? I've certainly been looking!

It's not my auction, but there's a fairly good deal on some Magnus issues right now..

Thats not a bad deal at all shaxper. Magnus 12 is a $15-20 book alone on ebay

always great deals on ebay...just not always what youre looking for at that particular time.

i just got my deathmate lot:
green preview (comic defense)
black
black gold
epilogue gold
yellow
prologue
blue (x2) one scuffed up

all for the amazing price of...$1
shipping was $4 so a grand total of $5.

i've got 3 of the green comic defense previews...anyone want one?
WWSLJD, MF?

Hmmm. The Magnus lot looks like it's worth a try. I killed the BIN on it. Not worth $20 to me, but if I can get it for ten, now that'd be something.

Thanks guys!

The Magnus #12 will push it past $10, plus all the free advertising for this thread

I bet he did the seller a favor by busting up the BIN. If the Magnus issues all have the card sheets included and uncut, that lot is worth a bit more than $20, if they are indeed in NM.

Eh. You never know. If it goes above $10 (and probably will) then it isn't a steal to me. From the viewpoint of personal interest, I have no interest in Turok, and happen to think Magnus #12 was one of the poorer Magnus storylines, so it's really only 1 and 5 that interest me in the lot.

And if I helped the seller by killing the BIN, then cool :)

Yes it was. :D

And I waiting to the end to bid. If it makes you feel any better, I sniped at 125.00.

They all came in the Wizard mailers except one. An interesting thing about the Gold and Regular ones is they have "prem" on the label of the Gold or Variant books. So without opening it you could tell which version should be inside.

Mainly admiration. This I see as the result of Chris using eBay better than the rest of us (or possibly him not having a real life  ).

It is the result of well thought out searches to find things. Ebay emails me with matches. And using a sniping service so I don't have to watch the end of an auction or draw attention to it with bids.

It's also a result of having enough money to spend $22.50 on the comics even if it wasn't an XO 1/2 gold. While I would have gladly spent it on the gold, I couldn't really spend that much just to get a bunch of 1/2 issues, without KNOWING if they are the golds or not.

Nice catch!

Well seeing how we only know of 2 different 1/2 books for X-O, and he listed 2. One being a variant. I was very confident that he knew the two were different.

I guess you would not have been disappointed if it had been a new, so far unknown, super rare, variant 8-)

Btw, congrats, this was well deserved.

Best,

Magnus

Yeah, the super rare crayon edition which features the X-O Manowar stick figure and his friend mr. sun. Wouldn't that of been cool? 8-)

Oh, I missed that - I just looked quickly and saw a bunch of 1/2 books listed.

Good pickup!!
