It will be interesting if and when more information on counterfeit Solar #1s comes to light from OG Valiant sources (especially from JJJ).
I still don’t grasp which copies are counterfeit Valiantdude? The bluish-purple or the sky blue?

There doesn’t seem to be a lot of difference in quality between the color variants. So, I would think that they were printed with similar paper off of the same printing machine (instead of a home printer). It just seems home printers, at the time, would be a poor choice.

I didn’t think Solar #1 was ever worth a lot. It seems that if you were going after money at the time you would make Harby #1s, Solar 10s, Magnus 12s.

Are there other issues with counterfeits besides Solar 1s?

Look I talked to her for like 3 hours and then at the very end of the conversation I thought about the counterfeit bookd, she told me it was all of the key issues, up until 93 and they asked her to identify them after she left Valiant, even though they weren't on good terms. She said that they were a different Paper Stock, and she kept saying something about a webpress.. and how each page gets a cylindrical print like a plate..I don't even know what a webpress is, but that's what they used.. she said it had something to do with color separations and the digital files and yes they did do digital files back then, they counterfeited pretty much all the key issues that had value, and they had sent her pictures and other things to identify which were counterfeit and to prove that... I mean I'll get to it eventually, but I mean she's out there. So, when I have time when she has time, I'll get even more proof but I wouldn't just pull this out of my *SQUEE*..

What seems weird is that nobody spoke up about it back then…. but, maybe they were worried about rocking the boat and unwanted “bad press.”And, just decided to sweep under the rug.

Now, it seems that it would be cool to know from a historical standpoint. And to know if your personal collection has any fakes. And, are they truly fakes if printed from Valiant’s real digital files? Could they be considered “unauthorized, but real? “…..making them more desirable depending on their print count?…. and does anyone really know the print numbers?
