I think they were damaged when they went in the box.
Why go to the expense of sending you a damaged replacement, though?

They probably have a few damaged ones laying around. Sharkrobot does lots of shipping... probably get good rates.

Seems silly to think they're having a laugh at your expense purposedly sending you damages copies, though.

My point though is that nobody at Shark Robot would even care if you insulted Valiant, even if they were for some reason watching Valiant socials. So someone from DMG would have to make a point to contact Shark Robot and ask them to *SQUEE* you over in such a petty way that would harm Shark Robot's reputation. I just don't see Shark Robot doing that.

Occam's razor says these guys just aren't experienced dealing with packing and shipping collectible books, and are just trying to blast out all the orders and any returns/exchanges to clear their books and fulfill the contract.

But I'm not trying to argue that D.M. isn't a petty b!tch, and if anything you getting Dinesh to call D.M. incompetent publicly is a win and worth the dented corners!

I don't disagree with that.

Still waiting to hear back on their plan to send another replacement book, or just give up and return my money.

Now, on Kickstarter, my comments are gone, and it says I withdrew my pledge...

I haven't seen a refund yet though.

Evidently, I'm supposed to be getting a refund within a few days.

I asked them to give a refund if they couldn't find a way to get an undamaged book to me.

The refund timing will be down to KS. They maximise windows to process payments (I assume as a means of generating a little extra money in the mean-time).

You will come out with 2 books, albeit damaged, and a refunded pledge which will cost the creators 9.5% of the pledge value as fees are not reimbursed.

To me it sounds like you were unlucky with your books, but have been treated as well as possible in terms of the refund.
VEI - I look forward to you one day publishing MORE than 9-10 books per month

Finally got around to reading this last night and I have to say...I LIKED IT! The villain was just ok for me, nothing to write home about, but I really appreciated the dynamics going on between Gilad, Armstrong, and Tama. A fun, solid read!

Sorry, let me bring this up to board standard:

"Wasn't Dysart's Harbinger. Woke writer inserted his personal politics by making the geomancer care about the environment. Did nothing for my erectile dysfunction. Zero stars."

But in all seriousness, no, it wasn't the bee's knees, but it was solid and enjoyable for me. I remember Dinesh once telling me the goal wasn't to hit a home run with every issue, but to just hit singles and be consistently good. This is a single or a double. No complaints about the product. The lateness is another story, but it's water under the bridge now afaic.

They just need to do the consistent thing now. The once in a while single does not work. Glad this one was a decent. Kudos to the creators for making that happen with DMG working against them. Wonder how much better it could have been if they had the help VEI would have given them.

If you mean the one for the upcoming rpg, that was announced months ago and is not published by VEI or Alien.

Yeah, what leonmallet said.

Eternal Warrior: Scorched Earth was run by Valiant directly, and fulfilled by a third party service of Valiant's choosing.

The new RPG is a licensed product and the Kickstarter campaign is being run by the licensee, not Valiant.
