VEI era hardcovers that never were - what would you want to see?

Post by leonmallett »

Sorry for the long title.

Prompted by a small discussion on the Facebook group, what VEI issue do you think could be viably be collected into Deluxe editions (so think 8 or more issues)?

Some that occur to me:

1. Eternal Warrior 1-8 plus Days of Steel and Awakening
2. Harbinger Omegas - to include Omegas, Life and Death of Toyo Harada
3. Faith - Faith and the Future Force, Faith: Dreamside, Faith's Winter Wonderland Special, Faith: Warped Tour/Keep A Breast Special Edition

What others are conceivable as thematic collections that never were?
VEI - I look forward to you one day publishing MORE than 9-10 books per month

I'd like to see the whole thing collected. Not just VEI, but VALIANT and VH 2 too.

For a start they could catch up with the Deluxe HCs by making:
1) Bloodshot Rising Spirits 1-8
2) Eternal Warrior (2013-2014) 1-8
3) Faith and the Future Force (2017) 1-4, Faith Ongoing #9-12, Faith Dreamside 1-4 and Faith's Wonderland Special #1
4) Generation Zero 1-9
5) Harbinger Renegade 1-8
6) Life and Death of Toyo Harada 1-6
7) Quantum & Woody (2017 series) 1-12 and Quantum & Woody (2020 series) 1-4
8) PSILords 1 - 8
9) Punk Mambo (2019) 1-5 and   Rapture 1-4
10) Savage 1-4 and Savage (2021) 1-4
11) Unity (2013 series) 15-24
12) X-O Manowar (2020 series) 1-9

Under Dino the deluxe HCs were great. They include 533 different VEI comics. Now there are over 200 comics not collected.

That is a great list - hopefully Danielle and Martin are looking. :)

I predict we will never see another deluxe edition again. If we're lucky we'll get some of these in that cheap looking box format Alien does with the tacky gold foil logo.

Can you show an example of this box format? I have a couple of TKO books that come as a mini-series in a box case, is that what you mean?

Seconding this. I'd give it priority just because they started the line and it would only require one more book to finish it.

I'd like to see all of VALIANT, VH 2, and VEI collected in a robust catalog of hardcovers and softcovers, like DC and Marvel has.

If VEI/Alien has the reprint rights to Solar, Magnus, and Turok (which we can conclude from the Valiant Classic Collection: Archer and Armstrong Revival Paperback coming out next year they likely do), then it shouldn't be a problem to collect those series and crossovers.

VALIANT may have limited rights to reprint GK3 appearance in non-GK3 titles rather than full rights to reprint any of their VH1 appearances.

More likely than not, yeah. It makes it impossible to reprint something like Unity.

I heard something once that VEI could reprint the appearances of the Gold Key characters in other, Valiant-owned titles but not advertise it.

In terms of something like Unity, which has been a while since I've read it, I recall one of the two Solar tie-ins focusing on the story from Erica's perspective, showing how she and Albert lived for 2,000 years.

If one removed the few pages with Solar in it, that one might be reprintable.
