Paradise Original Art collection page - UPDATED 9/28/18 !

I have not updated in a long time, so I took new pictures of the art (and a few other cool things) in my collection, and will update it here. It will be a series of posts, there is just too much stuff to load in one.

I will start with my Bob Layton art collection, my favorite Valiant artist from the old bunch (besides BWS, who's GOD)

Giant piece done by Bob for his agent, who, I guess needed some money and sold it


The original cover Bob did for VH1 X-O Manowar #1, Shooter thought it was "too Marvel"


Solar #1 cover from that publisher we won't discuss. Love the BWS-like quality to this piece


Commission by Bob, recreation of how he would have done XO #1 if he did it now


Commission by Bob, one of the earliest pieces of art I own, random pick up


Bob did this one because he knew I would be at Wonder con (few years back) and he knew I would not be able to refuse it. He knows me well


BONUS PIECE OF ART:

Barry Winsdor-Smith, Eternal Warrior blue line design for the famous cover, one of the early designs that was not used.

So, next set is some of the most awesome pages I own:

A piece by Lewis LaRosa used on a cover of a handbook, i believe?


A b/w prelim, and a full painting by Joseph Michael Linsner. Oderered by VH1 for X-O Yearbook, then not used, David Baron "homaged" it off inside, same exact pose


A piece I commissioned from Bart Sears when new Valiant X-O designs were shown. He did an awesome "I got this, old man" piece with both Arics. Inked by Andy Smith, and colored by someone I forgot


Philip Tan cover to our exclusive Unity #1 variant. If you pay attention, it's mirror imaged to the final cover


Another awesome Philip Tan piece. He did 2 covers for X-O #5 (first Ninjak), this one was not used, they wanted helmet on. You can see Ninjak in sword reflection. I like this one a whole lot more.

Joe Benitez (Lady Mechanika). True fact: Joe was our subscription customer at 17 before he got famous. Long time friend.


Jim Calafoire. One of the oldest, if not the first piece of art I have ever owned.


The man, the legend, Jim Mahfood. I own some really crazy Mahfood art (non valiant) but this is my favorite


Geof Isherwood. Long time DC/Marvel artist, done some super famous covers


Richard Isanove watercolor piece.


Stuart Sayger. Awesome dude, if you meet him at cons, get a commission, he's soooooo good


Marc Silvestri, who is not a fan. I literally made him do it because he was waiting for his wife to pick him up. I harassed him like crazy. He hates the character


Dheeraj Verma, a classic Indian artist, Todd McFarlane of India

Not a huge Witchblade fan, but love Michael Broussard, and this is a stunning cover


A Matt Wagner original Charcoal Pencils piece my wife commissioned for me at our first SD Comic Con in 1994, for my birthday, one of my most treasured pieces of art.


Love Bart Sears, and this is the only non-Valiant page I still own. Cover to The First from Crossgen. Hall of Heroes. How many artifacts do you see? Magneto's helmet and Thor's hammer are the obvious two. There are others.


Tess Fowler, an awesome artist and a good friend, recently on Rat Queens. She did this a few years ago and I had to own it. Disney Princesses re imagined as Stempunk


BONUS ITEM:

This one requires explanation. I have never met anyone who's seen these in print. They are marvel color separations for covers that NEVER happened. Including a Jae Lee one that even the storyline never happened. They are true separations, with CMYK plates. I have been offered lots of money for them but have never considered selling. Owned them since I was 20.

Man, that's so bizarre. He sold them to me directly day 1 of the auctions. I always put offers in as I don't bid. He accepted same day and was supposed to end auction early. What a schmuck. Sorry, man, had I known you were bidding I would not offer.
