ManofTheAtom wrote: Fri Sep 01, 2023 3:13 pm But they haven't published it. They've only solicited for release five months from now, time in which DMG can fulfill the Kickstarter. And, if they don't, they'll push the release of the softcover.

It should have been understood that the graphic novel was intended for mass consumption, not just for the people that pledged to the KS. That's how crowdfunding works.
I agree with you.

Just trying to explain why for some people had a negative reaction. We were led to believe that Alien had nothing with the kickstarter GN, then to see their name on it and that they're going to publish it while there hasn't been any updates on the KS, I can see why some had an issue with that. They obviously have SOME form of contact and interaction with DMG.

It was explained that they won't publish the SC before the KS is fulfilled, and I appreciate the direct communication we get on here.

For me, I'm a little surprised they want to publish the Eternal Warrior GN that they had nothing to do with. I was hoping for more of fresh start with Alien that would be quite a bit different than what's been coming out of DMG/VEI the last few years :?
I think it's understood that the KS was for the hardcover while VALIANT was always intended to publish another version for the direct market. Now Alien is doing that.

I think it was bad timing. The solicits came out and they were not intended to be made public this way.

I think it's equally safe to assume that Alien is not just going to drop comics without some preamble to let audiences know what it is they intend to do.
Yeah I didn't even know that book solicitation thing existed. I'd rather just discuss the comics. So maybe we can infer from this that all the DMG releases are in Alien continuity?
Yeah. I don't think we've seen anything that would lead us to believe they're rebooting.
DMG continuity was pretty hodge-podge, so that actually makes me less excited. :?
I do hope they can fix whatever continuity hiccups have come up.
:atomic: Comics are like a Rorschach test, everyone has a different opinion on what they are and can be... :atomic:

There's always hope. It would be cool if some of the Alien people joined in some of the many many discussions about the comics and the characters on here. They must be big comics fans so it would be interesting to hear what some of their favorite comics are and just get to know them more through comics discussions instead of just tamping down rumors. :twocents:

It would, and hopefully they will. But I think at this point there might be trepidation that if they join in to tell us what their favorite episodes of Mighty Mouse and Underdog are, they'll be attacked over the Kickstarter.

Yeah maybe :? . Like 20 people post here? About comic books? The stakes aren't really that high man.

This whole thread reeks of the Canadians...

Although with MotA's involvement it's becoming a whole NAFTA situation...

We should just ban everyone who paid for the kickstarter, we would all be more comfortable then. We need a moderator, where's Daniel Jackson?!
