More trouble at Valiant

So after almost 11 1/2 years at Valiant, I'm not moving forward with them. What bothers me the most is that Dan stiffed me on my severance. The guy has zero class and can care less about anything.
Because I don't want anything to do with the brand, I'm selling off my books/merch at a discounted price.
Oh, and anyone who bought into NFTs, I would probably consider your money gone and I can't forget about the Kickstarter. One thing is for sure, I'm not building an AR cover or explaining how it's done. Wait, is that thing even close to going to the printer along with its add-ons? Hmmm.
ADDITIONAL COMMENT
It's sad that within 5 years Dan ran the company into the ground. They went from 7 books a month to 1. Pulled X-O for September to run Ninjak. Really screwed up with the NFTs thinking it was a money grab. Too much greed. Now a publisher, has to get another publisher to print their books. Oh X-O 4 has been sitting on the printers servers since May.
I do wish the 3 people left good luck. Dan, your movie ideas a terrible and the fact you couldn't get anything done during the pandemic when the WORLD was consuming content speaks volumes.

Re: More trouble at Valiant
So what do I see in this post:
Employees - Letting employees go, but not paying them severance (likely since they moved all publishing to Alien). There are 3 people left! Fred, Danielle and who?
NFTs - I never explored this, but it seems that there are some issues with the Quidd license.
Kickstarter - Suggests the print books and extras has not yet been sent to the printer, and may never be.

I saw this post as well. I could barely stomach reading it to be honest. I'm just so sick of that company as well as IDW that I can't stand it anymore.

I don't know much at all about DMG or the people running it but I do know since they took over they've never seemed to make any decisions taking the existing fans into consideration. The exception maybe the recent Bob Hall FCBD, but even that is just a one-shot game tie-in.
But I can get the thinking, ok, the current and former fans aren't enough, we need the comics to appeal to more people. I can see the logic in that. However the decisions made in pursuit of that goal are what I take issue with. It never seems like there's any vision behind what to do with the characters/comics, just hire people who seem to be popular on comics twitter and hope they can figure it out.
Which is why my initial excitement of the Alien news has come back to reality. I'll believe good Valiant comics when I see them, but I'm not holding my breath.

Hmm... Maybe I should get my digital copy of the Kickstarter. May never read it but need something for the cost (and ridiculously high tacked on shipping).

Valiant is using Alien to publish their books... who is Alien using to publish THEIR books?
I think there's still more iffy news that hasn't come out yet.

They laid off 40% of their staff 2 months ago. They're a dead entity walking too.

Damn, and they've had a few TV series. Not even that helped. The Harbinger wrote: ↑Wed Jul 12, 2023 11:50:59 amThey laid off 40% of their staff 2 months ago. They're a dead entity walking too.

what do you mean? they'll use...a printer. lol. they publish their books.
I haven't started yet while the transition happens but from what I know it's going to be good. I even got an email today to get some stuff together and ideas brewing.
I appreciate you guys! I promise I will do all in my power to get this to be much better than it's been now!!!!

Re: More trouble at Valiant
I hope for the best.
but I'm no longer optimistic at all.
I'd love to see 5-10 books a month, in a shared continuity... with each book actually feeling like they ARE in the same universe.
please reference Pre-DMG takeover materials for what that could look like.
bring back GIN-GR and a Unity team... etc.

absolutely will get there, it will just take a min to get it all started. I don't think anyone wants to just rush out content for the sake of filling shelves. it's gotta be good. I've been always saying the same stuff as you guys and want the same things as a fan. it kept me here long enough fighting the good fight.slack wrote: ↑Wed Jul 12, 2023 12:26:46 pm I hope for the best.

I'm hopeful! Valiant IP is back in the hands of people who want to make comics! That's the outcome we wanted. I'm not much bothered that it's the result of a license rather than a sale.daniellew61 wrote: ↑Wed Jul 12, 2023 1:07:29 pm absolutely will get there, it will just take a min to get it all started.
