VALIANT Entertainment And Me
I don't recall if I've said this here, but I have mentioned it before on the Facebook VALIANT Fans group page, all with prior approval from VEI.
Back when VALIANT Entertainment relaunched the VALIANT Universe, I got to suggest a couple of creative ideas that actually made it to the printed page.
One was in the first issue of Archer & Armstrong. My suggestion was that Mary-Maria give Archer a journal he could use to write about his journey once he left the park where they grew up. This was inspired by the VH-1 Archer keeping a journal for the same thing.
The next one is a bit murky.
*I'm* fairly certain that my only suggestion for X-O Manowar #1 was that Aric take a piece of the broken sword with him so that he can use it to escape once he is take aboard the Vine ship, BUT I also suggested adding Gilad to the Visigoth army, which was inspired by his and Aric's rivalry in VH-1.
I'm hesitant to take credit for that one because, Dinesh and I have fairly similar thoughts about how VALIANT should be developed, so I am certain that even if I hadn't mentioned it he would have either already come up with it or had already been settled on, something I think is supported by how important it became later on in the series.
Though it would be nice to take credit for suggesting something that massive, due to my uncertainty on it I don't feel comfortable doing it.
Another thing I also contributed I have spoken about in public before was a new version of Chainsaw from the VH-1 Bloodshot series.
Though one did show up in the VEI series, I haven't really compared it against the one I suggested, so, like above, I'm not all that sure about taking credit for what ended up on the printed page. But, likewise, it would be nice if it was what I came up with.

You're not to blame for the ever-present X-O sword, are you?
I do need to re-read VH2 Bloodshot. I know VEI used a lot of the VH2 version for their BS but I don't remember how much. I've said before I prefer VH1 BS to VEI because he was more vulnerable, just a super fast martial artist with a healing factor, but definitely killable. Being able to get completely destroyed and reform yourself is a cool visual effect but drains all the drama out of the story.

Heh, no. The sword was not from me. I do like it, though.Ryan wrote: Sat Apr 29, 2023 9:41 am You're not to blame for the ever-present X-O sword, are you?![]()

Yeah, I prefer VH-1 Bloodshot too. I liked him as a Harbinger who could control machines and as a gangster. To me, Angelo Mortalli is to Bloodshot what Clark Kent is to Superman.

The sword does make sense, at least. I roll my eyes because it's used on almost every generic looking variant cover.Man-of-The-Atom wrote: Sat Apr 29, 2023 4:55 pm Heh, no. The sword was not from me. I do like it, though.

I've come to appreciate the Vanhook/Perlin Bloodshot run more. Really fun to re-read.
We all used to debate on here a lot what elements from VH1, 2, etc. we would like to see in a new comic line. I guess it's not as fun to do since it already happened, heh. But idk I still think about that stuff. Of all the post-Unity characters I've always wished the real Mortalli and Jack Boniface got another crack. Vanhook and Hall really made them into good characters.
Anyway it's hard to imagine what's coming next (if anything) for these characters, but I'm glad you got to contribute to VEI.

I do hope someday we see more elements from VH 1 return in the current comics, but without undoing anything Dinesh did.
I'd like to see, for instance, Archer resume his arc about becoming a spiritual leader. Or even Jack having to deal with his impending death. That was all great stuff.
