X-O Unconquered is an Ongoing
Hey, I know there's been a lot of speculation that X-O Unconquered may only run one arc like other recent releases. Thankfully, Valiant today confirmed that the first arc is six issues and they're developing a second arc while also referring to it as an ongoing series: https://twitter.com/ValiantComics/statu ... 2126069760
A review PDF also went out to press and there's no embargo, so if someone here did get it I'd be very curious to read their honest thoughts!

Re: X-O Unconquered is an Ongoing
I've seen it.
Without the "inside front cover" summary (which is common in other titles), I'm not sure who I am supposed to recognize from this issue (or who I should remember their backstory). Aric and Shanhara are easy to recognize, but I don't immediately know (or remember) what they were doing the last time we saw them, or how they got wherever they are now. Should we know? Or is that part of the mystery of this new series?
The fortune-teller woman seems familiar, but I don't know that I've seen her before. Is she connected to the 2017 X-O series?
The soldier (descendant of ancient Roman?) looks like the "big bad" from Harbinger Renegade #6, but I doubt if there's any actual connection (but there was such a build-up, whatever happened to that story?).
https://valiantentertainment.com/comics ... enegade-6/
General Cadmus (name reveal?) is unlikely to be a reference to Cadmus in Valiant's history (Ninjak #11-#12 from 1994), but that Cadmus was on Earth in the 1300s, so maybe there's some "historical" connection that's not evident yet.
Comparing to more recent Valiant books, I'd say there's some "hinting" that the Armorclads storyline might tie-in somehow, since we're in space, there's an army of bad guys, there are humans involved, they want the best weapon, etc.
The colors are very nice, and the art is more like Ernie Colon (Valiant 1992) than a lot of the digital art today, so that's a nice "throwback" to 30 years ago, whether intended or not.
The cohesive Valiant universe is now disjointed, with Shadowman over there and X-O over here... unconnected, potentially on opposite sides of the galaxy, but there were 15+ years without Valiant stories, so it's fine with me if Valiant continues to tell stories (as opposed to not telling any) which may (in the future) be seen as similar to Star Wars "Legends" or "Expanded Universe" - which did contain some great concepts, even if they're no longer "canon" to what people like most about (pre-Phantom Menace) Star Wars.

Let’s hope with all our might that the ‘Booster Gold’ rip off version of XO hoisted on us by Dennis Hallum is written out and it’s closer to the VDitti run.

Re: X-O Unconquered is an Ongoing
Abnett's Rai was an "ongoing" series, was it not? In retrospect with 11 total issues I don't think it earned that distinction. Gotta make it past 12 at least or it's a "maxi-series" in my book. (And in reality I don't care if it's mini-, maxi-, or ongoing as long as the story continues in a timely fashion in *any* title. Still holding on by my fingernails after that Master Darque cliffhanger in Rai #11...)

Spent $20 on the ComicsPro Edition, I was unimpressed!

Seriously, tell us more - spoilers be damned!! (I mean… use the spoiler tags to be considerate of those who may not want to know yet… but *I* don’t care, I want to hear your thoughts on it!)

Re: X-O Unconquered is an Ongoing
The book has two writers, but the story was thin, with a bunch of unknown characters that we know nothing about. No backstory here, we’re supposed to figure sh!t out as we go I guess. The female you all have seen featured on covers so far, was the only interesting new character. Hopefully we might get a little origin story for her. The art was good, but I’ve seen much better from this artist, some pages were dark in certain scenes, which made it hard to understand what was actually going on. The coloring was not vibrant, but quite dull. Overall, I’d say a solid 3/5 and that’s being generous.grendeljd wrote: Sat Mar 11, 2023 7:35 pmSeriously, tell us more - spoilers be damned!! I've been looking everywhere for the ultra-rare Turok vs Blister issue. Anybody able to help me out?

How's everyone liking it so far? I have to say, this is the first time I purchased a modern comic in years.....the industry just lost me, but this looks promising.
