FINAL FIVE from BAD IDEA

Post by Sunlight on Snow »

So there will be 15 more issues between August and December.

Plus 1 more Tankers (Aug) and 3 more The Lot (Aug-Oct).

What about the only 2 books/month rule?

Psyched up about the final 5...I’m all in. As long as the books are top notch then I’m glad they’re breaking the 2 books per month rule!

But, technically, they're only doing a high-three.

So confusing....

With the final 5 title announcement they will also address the increase in titles to end the year.

I shall continue to order any Bad Idea comics for this year that individually appeal to me based solely on their premise and/or creative teams.

I am personally enjoying *not* being automatically “all in” on their titles. I enjoy the freedom of picking and choosing rather than feeling compelled to own everything regardless of whether or not I actually like it - same as I do for other creator-owned comic companies like Image. And I mean that entirely as a positive compliment to the boys at Bad Idea.

I am having my fun with Bad Idea comics by refusing to play along with any of their marketing gimmicks and treating them like the bad idea that they generally are!! I’m sure they would appreciate the beautiful irony of that! :lol: :P

I’m willing to bet there’s gonna be some great stuff in that final 5 batch though :)

What about the only 2 books/month rule?
that ish went out the window in May, with their Pizza Detective book. Consider it another marketing gimmick, lol

I've enjoyed all the hub-bub, hoops and such, it's made the books a little more enjoyable. Don't mind hanging out early at a shop to be the first to purchase. Most importantly, I enjoy the haters hating Bad Idea's game, yet not getting that by commenting, they're spreading the name even further. It proves, yet again, that even bad publicity is good publicity.

From their history, we have an idea that Oden's Eye and Megalith are still out there. We have to assume that those two books have a large possibility of being in the final 5. That leaves guess work on three other titles. Megalith will probably be at least 4 issues (could be 5), the art that LaRosa has leaked seems to tell us that THAT specific story will be a full one. Oden's Eye could be a one-shot or could be a full on mini, just don't know. We've only seen one page of work there.

I am assuming that Megalith will be a 5 story series, but in truth, just one of the remaining stories will need to be 5 books, that leaves two 4 book mini's and 2 one-shots.

Anyone else see a different mathematical breakdown?
Moose

From BAD IDEA's most recent mail....
Remember, the BAD IDEA way also means no variants, no trades, no digital, select stores, perennially available Not First Printings and no more than two comics a month – just monthly comics, sold in comic book shops. Goodbye, troubles. Hello, BAD IDEA SIMPLICITY™.

Simple MATH on ODINN'S EYE

Months: 1
Pages: 72 + 4*32 ==> 200 pgs.
$: 9.99 + 4*7.99 ==> $41.95

Next up: PRICELESS PUBLISHING or OMG! PRESS.

In comparison to THE VISITOR

Months: 19
Issues: 6
Pages (simple Chinese): 6*20 ==> 120 pgs.
Pages (complicated Chinese): 5*20 + 1*17 + 3 ==> 117 pgs. + 3 epilogue one-pagers (that were more intriguing than the main story)
$: 6*3.99 ==> $23.94

VISITOR vs. ODINN:

Cents/page => $0.1995 vs. $0.20975
Price/month => $1.26 vs. $41.95

Bottom line: ODINN might be a budget killer but the price/page is absolutely reasonable.

REALLY excited for these. Super cool. I stopped into my shop to pick the books up yesterday and was pleasantly surprised to get one of the stickers!

I also picked up the first appearance of Batwoman for what I think was a bargain - 1/2 the lowest recent sold price on eBay.

Is that a 9.8 slab for about 25 bucks?

Oh, and congrats on that sticker!

Do we already know what it's good for?

I pre-ordered these (and all Bad Idea) with Ed at Paradise. I received my first shipment this weekend and was pleasantly surprised to find a Final Five sticker inside.

Any idea on what this is redeemable for? I saw in a promo that you get a “corrected” copy of the first issue. Seems sus but I’m on board.

Really enjoyed everything I’ve read so far.
