Voyager Hong Kong Editions Set of 6
All, I’m listing a set of my HK editions as I need to raise some cash. I have no idea what these will go for, but assume there will be some interest from board members. Hope they make it into someone’s collection here on the board.
As described in the listing, these show signs of wear and tear. Happy to send additional photos to anyone who is serious about purchase and would like additional pics. Thanks for looking!

Would you consider shipping to Sweden?

I set EBay preferences to no international shipments, so I’m not sure if EBay allows you to bid on it now.

Hi Magnus, happy to see if something is possible, so long as you win the bidding process fair and square through eBay and you cover all shipping costs...exact shipping, Int’l PayPal fees, duties, taxes, etc. No promises, but feel free to PM me and we can see if it’s possible.

Sounds good. I'll probably get outbid anyway, but now I know I can try. Thanks.aj583 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 15, 2021 2:22:18 pm Hi Magnus, happy to see if something is possible, so long as you win the bidding process fair and square through eBay and you cover all shipping costs...exact shipping, Int’l PayPal fees, duties, taxes, etc. No promises, but feel free to PM me and we can see if it’s possible.

I meant I would outbid you on the comics as a favor to you.
But, I’d do the other thing too, if you needed someone to act as your US address. Jeg er din huckleberry.
Re: Voyager Hong Kong Editions Set of 6
Seems I killed the joke. Seriously though I think there will be others who are happy to bid high. This is a spectacular group of comics.
EDIT: As I suspected I was outbid with margin, even more of a margin than what I expected.

This has to be the most ever paid for some HK comic books. Doubt you'd have gotten 1% of that price locally. I spent almost 15 years living in HK and never bothered to look for these. There is not much of a collectors market for foreign reprint comics there so I doubt many of these books have survived. Regular USA comics and a few local comics have decent collector followings.
Congrats on the sale.
Any idea why these went so high? Should be we start looking for the other foreign editions of Valiant to sell. They did a number in Tagalog too.

Re: Voyager Hong Kong Editions Set of 6
Yes, pleased with the sale. Thanks. I must admit that I didn’t foresee the final sales price, but I do know there are die hards looking for copies. I think I saw Dinesh comment on these at some point in time.
Thanks to any folks on the board that may have bid and congrats to the winner if you are among us. I must admit I felt a pang of remorse as I mailed the package off, but I’m pretty sure they are going to a good home.
My thought on why they went at this price:
1) They are ghosts in the states. I don’t think a sale of a full set of 6 has ever happened in the US.
2) I agree that I don’t think there are a lot left. These are not books that were popular in HK 30 years ago, so likely a lot were lost/trashed.
3) The books (and covers) are known, classic Valiant books.
4) Lastly, the foil covers are different from any current Valiant book I’ve ever seen. It is some sort of light foil textured overlay on thick, quality card stock. Super cool and unique. The pages inside are good color/print quality, just like the old Valiant books. The foil cover will wear if not maintained in good storage conditions.
I think just a super niche Valiant set that some collectors will want.
I have another set, and now at this sales price, I’m going to have to consider whether I should sell or trade down the road. Soooo...if anyone has an extra BS Platinum CGC they’d like to trade for, just let me know.

Re: Voyager Hong Kong Editions Set of 6
From what I know, these books didn't do well at local Hong Kong market in 1994, and they were sold as rubbish among other unsold magazines and books to mainland China to cover some cost. That might explain why most of these books are in really poor conditions and you couldn't find them in Hong Kong.magnus20009 wrote: ↑Tue Mar 23, 2021 7:52:44 am This has to be the most ever paid for some HK comic books. Re: Voyager Hong Kong Editions Set of 6
Big Congrats aj583 Excellent summary of why they fetched the final price but still, I was quite surprised when I saw the sold price.
I'm also lucky enough to have these (one set as the original owner and I found some extra from China last year as well). Now I am considering putting my extras for sale
