2.6
january through april 2021 valiant are publishing an average of 2.6 new comics (new issues, not tpbs/collected eds., etc.) per month.
Having just extended a 3-year deal for Valiant franchise videos games and rumours of a second Bloodshot film I find myself wondering just exactly the company's media publishing plans for the next few years are.
I think its fair to say that i've been very, very patient to date with what the company has and hasn't done since the dmg takeover, but given the current comic output my interest in Valiant is truly on the ropes.
No real point to this thread tbh, just thinking out loud really and given the recent activity on the General Discussion board, i didnt think a new thread would hurt, so, talk 'Valiant Going Forward' guys. How's the future looking for the company by your prediction?

It barely exists, in my opinion. Nobody can be a FT employee, I’m guessing.

Are you saying publishing only 2 books per month is a #BadIdea.
I'm actually okay with it.
At this point I'd rather have better quality than quantity to be honest.
I do agree though, nobody at Valiant can still be working FT anymore at this point. Impossible!

By the way, previewsworld.com has now removed all information about The Final Witness as well as The Visitor #5 (while #6 is still listed).
My best guess is The Visitor will only be collected and concluded in a TB.

Re: 2.6
Only as a point of conversation - it's sort of a cliche assumption that two titles means "quality". I mean it's not like all of Valiant's top creative minds are getting together to produce 2 books, on time every month like clockwork with a fully fleshed out story plan that supports a high quality artist, a separate high quality inker and then colorer all working to honor some continuity-mending Busiek script or a screen-worthy Frank Miller story.Sunlight on Snow wrote: ↑Sat Jan 23, 2021 6:15:46 am Are you saying publishing only 2 books per month is a #BadIdea.

I mean... they can crap out two books a month and it doesn't mean that they are focused on content quality at all whatsoever. If you ask me they are putting material out there maybe only to fulfill some contractual obligation or maybe to keep something in print for some I.P. ownership reason.

Re: 2.6
I fully agree. I didn't mean to say the current books are quality books. They should be but obviously they are not which is why editorial should focus on quality instead of quantity. Until then I'm okay with only 2 books. Everything else would be a waste of time and money. I didn't like the new strategy at first. It's disappointing. Then again, there's no need for too many bad books.IMJ wrote: ↑Sat Jan 23, 2021 7:54:37 amOnly as a point of conversation - it's sort of a cliche assumption that two titles means "quality". You're probably also right about the IP thing. It certainly feels that way.

You think there's any hope of honoring the Master Darque cliffhanger at the end of the current Rai volume?

Is Valiant still a Diamond Premier publisher? DCBS still has them on their Premier Publisher pulldown list, but when you click it it says there are no results. But you can find the titles under "Other Publishers"

That would *SQUEE* me off if they start putting issues only in TPBs and not the finishing the series in floppies. I will buy the floppies and I will buy the deluxe hardcovers but I have no desire to buy TPBs were I started buying the story in floppies. A TPB that was completely new material I would be down for.Sunlight on Snow wrote: ↑Sat Jan 23, 2021 6:24:37 am By the way, previewsworld.com has now removed all information about The Final Witness as well as The Visitor #5 (while #6 is still listed).

It just doesn't make sense to put the release of the two issues on hiatus indefinitely.

2 new floppies a month is sad. Leaving VISITOR unfinished is pitiful.
My main reaction to Valiant lately has been disappointment.

Re: 2.6
I just looked up how many DC titles were issued in April 1985. Looks like there were 47. Now, back then these things actually sold in the tens of thousands, if not hundreds of thousands. If there are 32 issues in April 2021, that's not drastically lower, especially considering how low the print runs are today.
I saw on FB that Final Witness is delayed and pulled from solicitation. Savage 1 has been delayed. The pre-order variants are essentially being killed, but nobody is confirming. Visitor issues are up in the air. I'm pretty disappointed they haven't figured out how to make it work.

Re: 2.6
Like (seems) most others here, I find it a real shame that the remaining two Visitor issues, and the entire first arc of Final Witness seem to have been lost, possibly for good, as a result of the pandemic crushing Valiant as a company. It looks like I'm probably not alone(?) when I say that I really enjoyed the Visitor issues that we did get, and to leave Father's origin story unfinished is such a loss imo. I thought that Final Witness at least looked interesting in the solicitations, so it's a shame not to see what had come of it in the end.
I guess it's possible that we might see the two aforementioned publications in one form or another, but I couldn't begin to guess what form that might take if it transpires; to me however, right now I feel as though that content is probably just going to remain unpublished. Hope I'm wrong, I'd love the last two Visitor issues published as floppies and I'm happy to see Final Witness in whatever format as long as the full arc gets published.
Also a shame, although personally I hated the idea of 'Social Media Savage', to see that cancelled (for a second time) ahead of publication. That doesn't seem to be a good sign in any sense... As for a second XO arc
Anybody got any news on the new Shadowman series that's supposed to be coming? As far as I'm aware, with Bloodshot ending, there's nothing else solicited for the forseeable future besides Shadowman now that Savage has been cancelled, is that correct? (Also assuming that the Savage cancellation news someone posted is correct)

Just scrolling through Twitter and saw that Valiant posted something about 'final chance to pre-order Savage #1' only 3 days ago, so my guess would be that that's still good to go.
