X-O Manowar (2020) #3
Super generic story. Super lame villain. Super terrible dialogue. Super unimpressive art.
And did no one proofread this?
"...I was a disembodied consciousness trapped on vine jump ship half a million light years away." - seemed to forget an A in there
"Apologies for the heavy hand. Gentlemen." - that's definitely a period instead of a comma
"What in hell?!" - does anyone say this without a THE in there?
"...I am the suit and I'm telling you!" - telling me what?
"That would right foolish." - missing BE right?
"Wasn't a demon and we did kill eventually it." - you've got to be kidding me
"...set the whole world to flame..." - maybe okay, but in the context of everything else
That excludes the incredibly awkward good faith attempts (I hope) at the supporting cast using an excessive amount of slang or odd speech patterns to give them personality but just reads as even more incomplete sentences.
Plus the comment that they only have "cold cereal and hot pop tarts" for breakfast while Aric seams to leave behind 3/4ths of a dessert pizza, which is not a pop tart.
And we're cursing now. I personally don't care, but seems like an odd shift.
One last thing... These Christian Ward covers get worse with every issue - zero details all around.

Hopeless. Well, maybe not quite hopeless.
My first thought was maybe these are the errors of someone whose first language is not English. Hopeless is from Kansas City. Do comics still use letterers? Maybe this was a problem with a letterer.
Editing really is a lost art, not just in comics but really in every contemporary medium of the written word. I think this decline really began with the proliferation of spellcheck.

The X-O armor "upgrade" of DNA produced a new armor, so to speak, with an immense power shock.
"Produced a new..." = Birth
"... an immense power shock" = Quake
"Produced a new..." = Birth
"... an immense power shock" = Quake

It is a little awkward, but I have heard "What in hell?!" - not as often as "What in the hell?!" or even "What the hell?!".
Still, there was some dialogue that reminded me that all your base are belong to us.

The redesigned suit was unexpected, and it appears they're going to change his powers along with it. I guess this really solidifies the change from VEI to DMG.

Sounds like mailing it in. Lack of quality is the first stage of the end......
Pull List: I only buy TPB's, HC's and Hellboy comics

WHAT WAS THAT!!??
What audience is this book aimed at, teenage girls?? Wow that was a tedious read. Terrible dialogue, throwaway characters, unrecognisable XO, pointless armour redesign!
How editorial think Hallum is fit to follow Venditti and Kindt on this book is mind boggling.
1/5 - put this series out of its misery and let’s pretend it didn’t happen.

They probably got bored and skim read it like I did!
This is the quality with only 3 books released and months and months hiatus. Imagine the quality if they were putting out 6-8 books per month.

Re: X-O Manowar (2020) #3
2 books, 3 senior editors.
Could it be too many chiefs, not enough... First Nations folks? Too many chiefs, not enough Native Americans? Not enough Washington Football Teams? How are we supposed to say that now?
I think about all the small indy companies that publish more monthly titles than they have editors. What chumps! Don’t they feel ridiculous now!
I feel like naming this imbalance between editors and titles as “anti-Liefeldianism”.

Rebooted garbage.
Definitely feels like BirthQuake level garbage.
Those editors just pat themselves on the back, and ignore the sinking ship vibe.

They have to know. I mean, they want better jobs after Valiant sinks, right? They are mostly just padding their resumés anyway; they don’t really care about Valiant.

Re: X-O Manowar (2020) #3
There was an explanation. And it was *SQUEE* stupid. I normally like Hopeless' Marvel stuff, but his X-O is dreadful. I may not be impressed by it, but the books Lysa Hawkins champions are usually still readable. Heather Antos is pushing X-O as the next big thing and it is terrible. Issue 3 was so bad I came back to this forum to *SQUEE* about it.
Manga, comics, who cares? They're pretty much the same thing.

Re: X-O Manowar (2020) #3
I must like reading trash comics.. I really can't tell the difference between a good comic and a bad one.
I've only been reading comics for over a year, and I thought this series was starting off good. Its not RAI or Venom or even Undiscovered Country, but it seems like a lot of the same plots and storylines are pushed out by all the comic publishers from across the board.
The story is super Generic but I wasn't expecting this series to be mindblowing. I like how they get to the point and there isn't 17 different arcs and 12 crossover comics I have to read before this.
Its Covid, life is *SQUEE*, we just trynna see XO *SQUEE* up Warlords
I never read the original XO or any of the previous volumes, so I'm talking completely out of my *SQUEE*.

The good news is you’ve set yourself a really low bar...the even better news is you’ve still got 50 issues of Robert Venditti’s run to read which is miles better than the current dross.Fu-Schnickens wrote: ↑Tue Jan 12, 2021 8:49:57 am I must like reading trash comics..
