LW stands for linewide. So for example 1:20 Stands for if a retailer ordered 20 copies of one title they would get 1 copy of the variant linewide means if they ordered, for example, 60 different VEI books they would get the variant. Anecdotally linewide books are significantly easier to find than title only books. Their prices do not reflect this as math is challenging for some people, but if you are patient then you will not have a problem. The number 1 overpriced valiant book in my
Mind is Harbinger 8 LW. Some people try to sell it for $$$ but it is very easy to find. Supply far exceeds demand.

712 copies of Archer & Armstrong #1 LW 1:100
1267 copies of Bloodshot #1 LW 1:50
“Line Wide”.... for instance... for this comic: 712 copies of Archer & Armstrong #1 LW 1:100

For every 100 Valiant comics of ANY Valiant title ordered by the comic shop for that month... they could order 1 Archer and Armstrong #1 1:100. So, the 100 comics ordered could have been 25 A and A, 25 Bloodshot, 25 Harbinger, and 25 EW.

You just need to be patient. I bought my 9.8 for $275 last year. Significantly less than the 9.8 for $800 that has been on eBay for a donkey’s age.

I have a 9.8, as well as an extra raw copy available. Just haven’t listed everything yet.

I was just joking around about you “having extra copies for cheap.” I personally think that this is “the most desirable linewide.” 2nd on that list would be Bloodshot Reborn 1 black and white LaRosa.

... but I do have one Harbinger 8 linewide... just never see it for sale. I understand what you are saying about more copies being available in the market for LW comics.

Sunlight on Snow wrote: Sat Jul 04, 2020 10:40:09 am What about the 1:100 Secret Weapons #1 Signature Series variant cover?
There is no 1:100 Secret Weapons incentive in my list of the 940 or incentive covers (nor does Greg have one listed in the price guide).

I am a bit confused about what ended up happening with this book as it was solicited as a 1:100 book and also as VEI’s first signature series book. Yet 34 ended up in CGC Signature series slabs (and 2 in qualified slabs) and a bunch in CGCS autographed slabs. There were also a few released that were not in slabs but still autographed (I have never seen a non-autographed copy).

Since I am not sure if it ended up being a regular incentive or how witnessed signatures were slabbed (as if it went out signed all graded copies would be qualified) so I left it off the regular incentive cover list and chose to think or it more like a gold/retailer/convention cover. I don’t know if it was a straight 1:100 incentive or if it ended up being distributed differently or in multiple ways.

I guess you could say my 1000 incentive covers is all non-autographed incentives

I will of course need that issue. How rare is the English and Spanish version.

Those books were not put out by Valiant Entertainment, they were put out by the original Valiant shortly after its 1990 launch. Also they were not incentive books, something the hobby had yet to discover when they were put out.

However they are not easy to find. There was:

Adventures of the O - (6 copies graded by CGC (1 9.4, 1 9.2, 1 9.0, 2 8.5 and 1 6.5)
Cheesasaurus 1 - (7 copies graded by CGC 1 9.8, 1 9.6, 1 9.4, 1 9.2, 2 9.0 and 1 7.0). Note 1 9.0 doesn't exist anymore as I cracked it open to read.
Cheesasaurus 2 - (no copies graded by CGC)
Kenny Kid and Hop Hop (KFC) - English (No copies graded by CGC :o :o :o )
Kenny Kid and Hop Hop (KFC) - Spanish (3 copies graded by CGC (all 9.8))

Cheesasaurus 2 and Kenny Kid - English seem to be the hardest to find. Co-incidentally they are still the two I need and would be very interested in purchasing a raw copy of each.

Yup because I also have the 9.6

It’s not a long book Or a great book but it is a piece of Valiant history. I certainly wouldn’t pay the $550 a crazy seller on eBay is asking for his raw copy of it (or the $700 he is asking for Cheesasaurus 2 - in fairness his prices for non-valiant books are equally outrageous so it is not just these books he is asking 10-15x market for) but for an OCD Valiant collector if you can find it for $25-40 it is worth picking up.

I bought the 9.6 and the 9.0 off nycjadie who has the 9.8 in his personal collection.

I never looked at the census numbers for those books. I think a good number of them were books I submitted personally, or ones that I acquired (for Cheese 1 and Adventure of the O).

Never knew about the Spanish Kenny Kid books in 9.8! Wow!

I never heard about the other books (than Cheesesaurus Rex) until now.

Here's some background information from the man himself......

http://jimshooter.com/2012/02/made-to-order.html/

The most interesting part is the comic for the Japanese video game.

Question: Shooter posted pics with English text. Is this the actual game version or a redo in English for his website?
