I think there could be a lot of damage to small business due to the corona crisis. This is not a good indicator that Valiant is not allowing associates to work from home to keep business going. Could the corona virus put VEI out of business?

But why though? Creating comics seems like one of the only businesses that's relatively safe from the virus. How many people work in Valiant's office? 10? Writers, artists, and even editors can work from home too.

I would imagine much of Valiant's business could be remote for sure.

However, let's support your LCS. If you can drop an extra $20 or $100 or even more, I think you should do it.

It could be that since the LCSs aren't open, they don't want buyers to have a 'double-up' month where there are two issues of everything to be purchased.

unless DMG or Valiant themselves have a serious rainy day fund that will allow them to survive i cant see it happening.

Honestly, DMG has a diverse enough portfolio that Valiant is likely safe for the short term. It's other publishers like Dynamite and IDW that will suffer the most. There might be changes in creative teams as everyone flocks to Marvel or DC to stay afloat. (No clue what is gonna happen with Image, since that company isn't designed to turn a profit.)
Manga, comics, who cares? They're pretty much the same thing.

Not sure how this helps retailers, hurts them if anything. If there’s no new product then how are they making money? Many retailers have on line facilities so books can be shipped.

Looks like I'm not the only one anymore. Sorry!

Image Comics will shut down for at least 60 days. Others as well, see the THR link.

https://imagecomics.com/press-releases/ ... age-comics

FCBD has already been postponed, too.

Statewide shut down of comic book stores in California, NY, and Illinois.

Needless to say this is bad for everybody involved from the publishers to the stores to the creative teams.

These are truly crazy times we’re living through. There’s a flippin movie out based on a Valiant book. This should be Valiant’s moment and now they’re shutting down. Crazy.

Obviously there are bigger things to worry about than “comics” but this hits a lot of people. I feel bad for the shops and art teams affected by this decision. I just can’t wrap my head around all of this.

Damn that's crazy! Hope they can figure out a way to keep going ... the longer they step away the harder it will be to pick back up.

People aren't gonna like this, but VEI has failed by putting Hollywood above comic book fans. It's a house of cards now, 8 years, 1 kinda okay movie with VD.

A company that hires Heather Antos doesn't care about the money from readers. VEI hoped they could leave comics behind to spin the properties into TV and movies, but now the lack of comic sales coming over the next few months means VEI might not even have the properties much longer

I guess we should wait and see what happens because now there are no new comic books after this Wednesday because Diamond is shutting down. Crazy times!

We're grounded in Ohio also. No stores until early April at best and it could linger.

Everyone stay safe and whole.

That was to be expected really.

I'm still waiting for ENIAC & #BadIdea to be postponed until further notice.
