Bloodshot Advance Screening Review (no spoilers)

Post by nycjadie »

I saw the movie tonight. There were maybe 50 people in the audience. Pretty empty. Free T-shirt and poster!

I recommend everyone go out and see the movie. Fans of Bloodshot are going to love it! I had an awesome time. If you can see it this weekend (Seattle is shutting down tomorrow to a large degree due to the virus), you should do so.

It’s very different than a Marvel of DC movie. It’s an action movie.

The story is very much close to the source material as the VEI run, in my opinion. Sure, some things necessarily are changed, but I was not bothered in the slightest.

Wiggins steals the show. I want more Wiggins.

It’s definitely PG-13 and then some. I won’t be showing it to my boys for a few years. They will not be happy about it (just like Deadpool)!

It was really cool to see so many people I know in the credits. I used to work with Amazon Studios and have friends in the business, but the people I know in the credits put heart and soul into the books, the characters, and are also just damn good people. Kudos to them.

I had a feeling Wiggins/Winston would steal the show. (Winston is his name on New Girl, and he's a great character.)

I just saw the show. It was a needed distraction after watching India sink 8% today, Thailand 10% and the Philippines 15% (although just checking after the movie it doesn’t seem Europe or the USA have done much better). Was a bit difficult to get see it. Went to the biggest theatre in Singapore and they don’t have 9:00pm shows anymore because of the virus. Thankfully the theatre the next block over still did. Theatre was 10-20% full for the opening night show.

I have to admit I am not a Vin Diesel fan so was not as excited as most when he was cast.

I thought the movie was OK, better than most of the DC movies but not as good as most of the Marvel movies.

Unfortunately I do not see it brining in more fans to Valiant, especially given its bad luck for being released during full batsh*t insane virus hysteria.

Valiant fans should go see it and I hope it causes more Valiant movies to be made.

I'm hoping, but don't know how reasonable it would be, that all the big, expensive movies being released right now (starting with Disney's Onward) which should be profitable in most theaters will get a re-release in theaters at some point. Maybe that isn't possible, but if the studios decide that the world needs a second chance on some of these movies, they could probably make a lot of money if the world also agrees that they want to go back to the movies when everyone is healthier.

It would be a shame if timing simply crushes some big movies and the only way they can become profitable is on DVD sales/streaming. Whenever something happens locally (hurricane, whatever), it's too bad for that area but the world keeps moving. When something happens globally, then there should be global agreement to do something about it.

I'm really grateful I got to see it last night. The state has called a moratorium on gatherings of more than 250 people, so I think many theaters, if not most, will be closed. I am barraged by emails from museums, live theaters, schools, etc. all announcing closure today for the rest of the month, at a minimum.

There might be more than a few people who really want to see this movie, but can't.

I hope you guys enjoy the movie. I think just sitting down with an open mind and a desire, as David notes, to be distracted, is the right way to go.

Ok, so I just saw the movie. Only 6 people were in the theater for the 7pm show including my daughter and myself (Covid-19) is gonna kill this universe before it gets started. I was pumped up about seeing it and I think it was decent but not as good as I'd hoped... like not sure if I believe it was capable of being the flagship movie that will launch an entire universe. Not gonna give anything away but would like to hear other people's thoughts.

As far as action movies, it was pretty enjoyable and perhaps it was one of those deals where you build it up in your mind so much that it's tough for it to live up to the expectations. I will definitely watch it again when it becomes available on VUDU since a little time can make all the difference.

The bookings here in Stockholm for the premiere tonight have been strange. For a long while the movie was only available in three theaters and there were almost no bookings (like 12 bookings out of 421 seats). Then over night yesterday lots of tickets were sold (now typically 341 per show). So now the movie is available in 10 theaters.

My feelings as well, but embarrasingly enough I might need to back-track a bit. I heard now that the theaters deliberately keep empty seats because of the virus, so the numbers are uncertain. Well, at least it is certain that the film is shown in 10 theaters. Will let you know afterwards how it really was.

Well it was a good film. But there was something missing for me. Heart and some charater growth.
I thought It was comic book accurate. Very epic felt like the pressure was on the whole time. Cant wait for my second viewing.
I think that guys rating was bang on. 6.5/10 I really liked the bad guy at rst.

Now I understand why there was such a sudden surge in reserved seats. That was when the theater blocked out more than 3/4 of the seats to make sure there's no risk of virus.

So, in the end about 40 people in a theater for over 400. After the show they disinfected each seat.

All four of us agreed that this movie deserves to be seen by much bigger audiences. A solid 7/10. As far as I could see the rest of the audience neither looked unsatisfied nor overwhelmed.

Was satisfying to see Valiant's logo on screen and many familiar names (including Dinesh' wife).

I am embarrassed to say, until I read MagnusR post ~ I had no idea it would be released in Europe/Uk on same release date.
Was waiting for posters / info to come over the next month.

It is not at my local cinema, if it was I would jump on my bike and be their in 10/12min.
Their is another cinema across town I just found out they have a 2100 screening ~ if I stop typing ~ get on my bike and cycle over ~ I would make it, just on time?

A true fan would I suppose :? :hm: but I was up at 0500. it will finish arround ? 2300 ~ then I would have to cycle back.

As its 12A may take both my boys over the weekend. So happy I can watch it along with you all. Was just going to kick back and wait another month.

Cool.

So glad I can see it roughly inline with you all. Hope someone adds a full spoiler thread so we can discuss.
I wish their was a Spinal Tap comic, and I had a copy CGC graded at 11.

I am taking family and neighbors on Saturday afternoon for a total of 9 seats. So far the theater has only one seat sold, but I am afraid to order the tickets now, since the President just declared a National Emergency. :o Will all movie theaters be shutting down? :(

I watched the film today and enjoyed myself.
about 10 people in the 200 set cinema. No one around, the centre it was shown at was pretty deserted.
I am not sure if that means anything as, I do not visit that area much ~ so don't actually know if it is busy at that time anyway. 1300 screening.
Did feel empty.

Bad day weekend in the UK to release a film, University students broke up Friday, and a lot of Students going back home for term break.

As for the film, I thought it was extremely well made. One thing annoyed me, a lot, want to mention it but don't want to say anything ~ its not a spoiler. But if you read it before seeing the film ~ you may feel as I did. Let me know when we can.

Otherwise ~ great film, funny, had some great lines that made the audience laugh ~ but didn't come across as cheesy. Looking forward to watching this at home. Not used to watching action films at the cinema, I just watch films with my kids if I go.

Thought it was true to the character, see it for what it is, an action film/ sci fi? Enjoy it. Defiantly worth watching.

I sadly won't be seeing it this weekend yes due to the virus concerns. However I did finally get my novelzation of the movie so I'm there in spirit and imagination.

Read the novelization and then saw the movie this weekend. The movie is FANTASTIC! 9/10. Very true to the character and comics. They knocked it out of the park. Loved the action, especially the fight in the tunnel and the one at the end. KT anD Wigans were my two fave characters. And really dug the music. Very different from the back half of the novelization. Anyone know if they did that on purpose if they back half is what they reshot?
