BAD IDEA
Have you all heard about this?
Something is happening likely involving Warren Simons, Josh Dysart, Lewis LaRosa and Dinesh Shamdasani.
It's pretty loosey goosey right now but it looks like it's happening.
I just got excited again and it feels good man.

I think this is Dinesh's next go at comics and it looks like he's got his whole crew with him.

I haven't read anything Valiant other than LaDoTH over the last 2+ years. I really miss the old stuff from VEI, and these guys doing something together, well, that might put my feet back on a comic shop regularly.
The gang is back!

Very interesting/interested.
How long has it been since the DMG takeover? Did Dino have a no compete clause for a period of time? Is it #timesup for Dan Mince!?!?

So, are we thinking BAD IDEA is the new Dinesh imprint?
I've been looking everywhere for the ultra-rare Turok vs Blister issue. Anybody able to help me out?

Re: BAD IDEA
When they are confident enough to start actually talking about more than just a company name... I may be interested.
How many titles planned? Shared universe or not? Super heroes or not? Licensed characters or not? Long form series, or a bunch of minis? Tons of variant covers, or something more simple? Creator owned or company owned content?
AND the BIG question: Can you WAIT long enough to BUILD a fan base through publishing comics before you push so hard and fast for movies that you end up taking investor money that eventually loses you the company?
Don't forget, Dinesh and Warren let Dead Drop happen... they aren't infallible. I want this to be something I'll enjoy, but I need more than a (possible) company name to actually get me interested.

So are early announcements not okay now?slack wrote:When they are confident enough to start actually talking about more that just a company name... I may be interested.
Dinesh and co. WERE waiting, and taking their time building a fanbase. Don't put this s**t on them. They'd tried their best to slowly and methodically build a universe, and got the rug pulled out from under them. Not sure where you get off blaming them for something they had nothing to do with.AND the BIG question: Can you WAIT long enough to BUILD a fan base through publishing comics before you push so hard and fast for movies that you end up taking investor money that eventually loses you the company?
So literally one awful mini-series, out of hundreds of story arcs, and you're onboard the negative train?Don't forget, Dinesh and Warren let Dead Drop happen... they aren't infallible. Re: BAD IDEA
I didn't say that. I said I'm not interested until they say more about what they intend to produce. So are early announcements not okay now?
Wrong. They didn't even wait five years before they were working on getting movies made. They took DMG money after 3 years or less of publishing. It was that RUSH to get movies in the works that got DMG involved in the first place. Had they waited longer and built a bigger fan base of of new readers, they might still be publishing Valiant comics, and we wouldn't have to worry about a disconnected film universe for a few more years.Dinesh and co. No. That was just the worst...there were other lacking stories and arcs along the way. But I'm not "on the negative train"... I'm just wanting more information before I immediately "jump aboard the bandwagon(not train)" like many others. So literally one awful mini-series, out of hundreds of story arcs, and you're onboard the negative train?
Sorry, but I'm not gonna convince myself it's great before I know what it really is.

Re: BAD IDEA
From what I remember, Ales Kot had a pitch for a Valiant book, but Warren wasn't sure whether he'd be a good fit for Valiant, so he let him write a mini (which one can easily ignore, or pretend is not in continuity) to see if he had a good handle on Valiant's characters. The results would suggest he wasn't. I think Simons's solution to the tryout was a good one.slack wrote:When they are confident enough to start actually talking about more than just a company name... Re: BAD IDEA
Maybe they should have waited a little longer, but the fact is that they a) needed cash, and b) needed eyes on Valiant. Obviously, in 2019, the answer to that conundrum is to get something live action made. I don't agree that trying to get one movie in theaters was such a bad idea, and I also don't think it was a bad idea to get other investors involved. It's not Dinesh and co's (Bad Idea's?) fault that DMG took over. That didn't have to happen, but the people in charge decided to be *SQUEE*.slack wrote: Wrong. Re: BAD IDEA
My dude WHAT are you talking about? Dinesh waited 7 or 8 years before publishing a monthly comic and 10 or 11 years before DMG were involved. His reputation is quality and PATIENCE. You understand you are literally saying the poster child for slow and steady was not slow enoughslack wrote:

Also the reason he isn't publishing Valiant comics is because they built a big fanbase...that DMG wanted for their own. DMG would never have stolen Valiant from them if they rushed into movies and ignored a comics fanbase.
