Re: Paramount Picks Up Harbinger From Sony
I’m not sure what to think about this? My gut reaction is that it is bad to break off Bloodshot from the rest of the Valiant characters, including Harbinger.
Why would Sony allow someone else (Paramount) to take the movie rights to Harbinger?
Seems crazy.
The only positive that I can see is that at least 2 companies will give Valiant a Cinematic try. Maybe one fails and one succeeds?

That's because Sonys next movie will be xo if BS does well... which it will.. At 1st I thought it was going to not do well, because vin diesel as bloodshot is strange to me. However, upon reflecting upon things, it seems that blood shot will do very well, and will be the birth of the vcu, but with Paramount taking over harbinger, that nixes the harbinger wars as the 2nd movie. The 2nd movie will be xo, mark my words

Plus, if I am legend featuring Will Smith, can make 400 million dollars. Then anything is possible that movie was terrible

I don’t understand why you say this? As far as I know, Sony only had the movie rights to Bloodshot and Harbinger for 5 films. Now, they have given up on Harbinger.
In the above article it sounds like Dino had the relationship at Sony and DMG now wants relationship with Parmount.
Am I wrong?
Re: Paramount Picks Up Harbinger From Sony
This is a complete guess, but with Sony wanting to build up the Spider-verse, I don't know if they have the bandwidth to fully fund two comic book universes. While it sucks to breakup the universe, that wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing. What would be troubling, is if Sony saw the test footage from Bloodshot, thought the movie was going to flop, and flipped the rights to Paramount before the VCU takes the hit from a poor performing first movie.

Re: Paramount Picks Up Harbinger From Sony
I'll tell you why but it's a little complicated, as far as marketability, xo is probably the most markable on a global scale, even more so than bloodshot harbinger or most other valiant properties. DMG, having party worked on iron man 3, has the Resources and understanding of how to make a successful movie that is similar to xo...

DMG wants anything that doesn’t have Dinesh attachment to it Mintz forced Sony to take out the Harada cameo and this *SQUEE* of the Sony executives. Dinesh knew this was going on and Presented to Sony they don’t need Harbinger to build Bloodshot into a franchise. Once this was explained Sony was ok with letting Harbinger go to any other studio and will again concentrate on a BS universe of films if the movie does well enoughJuki wrote:valiantdude wrote:That's because Sonys next movie will be xo if BS does well... which it will.. Ok, this seems to make sense (and plays into the thought that Dino has the relationship with Sony and DMG wants to move away from both).
But, what I don't understand is how can Mintz tell Sony that they can't have a Harada cameo in THEIR Bloodshot Movie if THEY owned the rights to Harbinger at the time (which I am assuming includes the Harada character)? I thought the initial Valiant 5 movie contract with Sony would allow them to introduce these characters however they wanted INDEPENDENT of Valiant and DMG.

Re: Paramount Picks Up Harbinger From Sony
Definitely seems like a DMG *SQUEE* contest.
Harbinger will always be an X-Men ripoff. Has to be realized, as much I love the books, movie goers will always see it as such.
Bloodshot is a tangential Wolverine copy. There is enough different to make the character unique. I think Sony/Dino picked the right one to stick with.
Probably a lot of fallout in the Sony camp from the Spider-Man/Disney kerfluffle also rippling through this decision.

Re: Paramount Picks Up Harbinger From Sony
It's so awesome that Bloodshot sounds like it may just be a huge hit. Pretty much everything else for live action Valiant feels just dead in the water. Quantum and Woody TV series by the Russo brothers anyone? Doctor Mirage? And now Harbinger switching studios. To be brutally honest, it all just sounds like rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic about now.
Re: Paramount Picks Up Harbinger From Sony
If Paramount now owns Harbinger - and apparently nixed a Harada cameo in Bloodshot - how can Ax still be in the Bloodshot film?
Unlike Harada, Ax actually originated in a Harbinger book.
So...do they now re-shoot it simply to change his name?

I wonder who the actor was that was going to play Harada for Sony (in the cameo that was pulled for the Bloodshot movie)?
...and I am assuming Harada for Paramount's version of the Harbinger movie will be a different actor.
So, I wonder which actor fits the part better and makes Harada's character come alive? I guess we will never actually see Harada's Bloodshot movie cameo... so may not ever know.

Re: Paramount Picks Up Harbinger From Sony
Considering how everything went south for DMG not long after they acquired Valiant, my guess is they're desperately trying to get anything before cameras to get some much needed cash and hopefully keep bankruptcy away. Unfortunately for them, Hollywood tends to take its time in exploiting untested IP.FormerReader wrote:Again I have to question, what is DMGs thought process?

Pretty sure something changed hands for this to happen and went right into DMG pocket no telling what that was exactlyFuncha wrote:Considering how everything went south for DMG not long after they acquired Valiant, my guess is they're desperately trying to get anything before cameras to get some much needed cash and hopefully keep bankruptcy away. This was bound to happen, but it destroys Valiant's chances at becoming major league like Marvel and DC. Now it's just a publisher with a bunch of superhero IP's.

Re: Paramount Picks Up Harbinger From Sony
From the articles it sounds like the director attached to the film was the one that led Harby to Paramount after signing a deal with them earlier this year. I’m sure some money changed hands but Sony had to not have much believe in a Harbinger franchise and/or shared VALIANT cinematic universe to just let another studio take it off their hands.
