VH1 Eternal Warrior: Any good?

Post by Shadowman99 »

I've loved any comic featuring Eternal Warrior ever since he first appeared in the VEI-U (not read Incursion yet though, mind...).

Were the VH1 comics any good?

I've also noticed there's an Acclaim-era title 'Eternal Warriors', same question applies...

Anything else featuring the character pre-VEI worth checking out?

The V1 comics were really good and he was a true eternal warrior :cloud9: .The immortal enemy and master darque battles were really good.I liked acclaim's eternal warriors,it was about the whole family.Mog and the immortal enemy were my favorites out of all of them.If you read it,wait till you see who the immortal enemy is :o .

That sounds good, I'll try to check out at least the VH1 run sometime in the future :)

I don't know who Mog is, but I can only say that I'm going to be disappointed if the Immortal Enemy doesn't turn out to be Rotwak :kidaround:

It was and is my favorite Valiant series. IMHO it was good all the way through (with occasional ups and downs).

I wasnt as much of a fan of The Eternal Warriors. It was OK.

Eternal Warrior was my favourite character of VH1 and I did really enjoy his title. There is a shift in the book around issue 29 when he and the Geomancer split ways and Gil has a bit of a hard time finding direction.

Were the VH1 comics any good?

Loved the historical intro in (almost) each issue.

Having recently read through #28, I'd say... The BWS stuff (#1-8) is really good. The Immortal Enemy stuff (#12-14) is pretty sweet. Master Darque arc (#17-19) is also fun.

The rest is mostly mediocre (although never bad) attempts to figure out what to do with this character in his own title.

Yeah, and it usually had something to do with the issue's main storyline.

Wow... So it seems like history has repeated itself with the character since 2012... :|

Yup. Although I personally feel THE VALIANT and UNITY did a rather good job with the character... Ironically, better than his own title
I've been looking everywhere for the ultra-rare Turok vs Blister issue. Anybody able to help me out?

As most here have said, the early EW issues are a great read, but after the Chaos Effect, it's starts to slip in quality. But, then again, the entire company started going downhill, as well.

Company-wide, you can really see the focus shift from amazing storytelling being the priority to the artwork taking the spotlight & trying to be cool and "trendy". I get it, it's a comic book and you want great art... but with a crap story, it's just art. And I don't read comics just for the art.

But def check out a few issues, especially #1 & 2, the Unity issues. 2 Gils from different time periods fighting side by side! One from the past... "and one from the future, Witch.". Great stuff!

I'm strapped for cash at the moment, but I'll hopefully get a chance to at least pick up a few of the early issues at some point in the future :thumb:
