CGC announce earlier this week that they will now witness and authenticate signatures on prints, and then encapsulate the print with a Yellow Signature Series label.

The fees are $25 for prints and $15 for photo sketches. The maximum sizes that CGC will encapsulate are as follows:
• Small-sized print: 9” x 11”- $15
• Medium-sized print: 11” x 17” - $25
• Large-sized print: 14” x 20” - $25

WELL, as standard comic art boards tend to ALSO measure 11” x 17” I reached out to CGC by email to ask if they would be able to also witness and authenticate signatures on original covers and/or pages, and then encapsulate the original covers and/or pages with a Yellow Signature Series label.

The response was: YES.

Good morning,

Yes, we can as long as you obtain an authorized CGC witness and follow the regular signature series procedures.

Thanks!

We will be testing this process at WonderCon with a LADOTH #1 original cover.

Nope.

CGC messaged me back to let me know they were wrong. They will NOT witness/authenticate original artwork that has been published. :!:

Sorry guys, I tried. :|

Ok, so this is important to a few of us, so I have changed the OP to make this thread easier to find.

I checked my Imperium #1s, and here is what I found;

3x copies of Imperium #1 (Braithwaite 1:40) contain the Prelude.
All of the Imperium #1 (Gold) I checked did NOT contain the Prelude.
2x copies of Imperium #1 (Regular) contain the Prelude.

In fact, ALL of my Imperium #1 Variants contained the Prelude.

SO.... :hm:

NOW, we need to check our raw copies to see what in-fact DOES NOT contain the Prelude.

Does anyone have a regular, gold, or variant without the Prelude? If so, let us know so we can confirm what is what.

I have 20 copies of #1 raw. I'll take a look. It's been so long, I don't remember which cover I have.

OK, I checked my copies and all the variants save the gold have the prelude. I have one A cover that does not, and since the prelude is essentially a centerfold insert, I don’t think it will make a difference from a value standpoint. You can easily remove the pages. Kind of like Magnus 0 with or without the cards, you always want it with, as you can just remove the cards.

Copying a post I made in this thread last year.

The "error" (it's not just Allen) is the common one most people will have.

The "corrected" without the prelude was released exactly one month later (Feb 4 vs Mar 4).

I order(ed) my books through DCBS and they sent out an email and free copies of the corrected (so I have one of each). This is what I wrote up for another site's listings.

"The original printing of Imperium #1 shipped with the Imperium Prelude (which ran in most Valiant comics this month) meant for X-O Manowar #33 in the middle of this issue, interrupting and potentially confusing the story. This free replacement copy without the insert could be ordered by retailers matching their original order."

Unfortunately, there is no identifiable difference (same cover, same UPC, same indicia) between the two versions other than the Prelude being stapled in or not, so it would be easy to fake.
"If you think any of these [older comics/shows/movies] do not carry a political content and is not using the medium of science fiction to explore real-world ideas, than you have not been paying attention." - Dan Abnett, VCR #246

I just checked my single copies of all the number #1 variants and they all contained the Prelude error with the exception of the Gold variant.
