Patience man, we're 13 months out. Don't want the hype to peek too early.
Can you divulge any more details about the current state of the film production? Is there any filming left to do in the U.S.? (Possibly for some of the special effects?) Or, was filming totally completed in Africa?

Re: First look at Vin Diesel as Bloodshot
On the one hand, the hair is part of his iconography. However, it does not inform the character and his actions (unless the hair holds the secret to the nanites power).Juki wrote:So, from the picture, it does seem that Sony's Bloodshot will be bald. Is this really a "sticking point"....for hardcore Valiant comic fans?
His hair has usually been very short. Hair is not a deal breaker for me. It will be interesting to see if he does have some hair at any point during the film (Maybe he is bald as a soldier before the nanites?)
If they want to make the comics more accurate to the film, there is an easy solution...
This is what happens when you try to work...

I know it's been said, but bit of a disappointment upon opening this thread. That there's a photo of Vin Diesel, not Bloodshot

I just assumed the pic of Vin is at the beginning of the movie when he is joining the armed.forces, before the nanites are introduced to his body. I'm not worried

Ditto.
The fun character question is "Will Vin Diesel as Ray Garrison have hair before/when he becomes Bloodshot?"
Of course short hair is the iconic comic book look for Bloodshot. Maybe it is just too early to show us anything since the movie is still a year out.

I think it's safe to say this is probably a really early scene in the film, showing Ray as a standard kind of trooper in the US army, pre-nanite injection, so I'm with Corey there.Juki wrote:corey wrote:I just assumed the pic of Vin is at the beginning of the movie when he is joining the armed.forces, before the nanites are introduced to his body. Baldshot won't have hair in the film, I'm certain of it. Vin's never grown hair for any other role and he's not about to start now. Plus, that cover for the auction comic showing him bald... Hair = not gonna happen.

Re: First look at Vin Diesel as Bloodshot
You may be right in that Vin Diesel refuses to have hair and it will be "Baldshot." Didn't Vin Diesel himself commission the bald drawing by Lewis LaRosa used for the comic book?
But, maybe they just don't want to give anything of his look away yet. With Dino on production Vin will probably look great either way. I think the comic book is the "artist's rendering" of Diesel as Bloodshot BEFORE the movie started production. Could they have talked him into hair after?
If Diesel does have hair in the Movie it would have to be "synthetic hair." Maybe we are in for a big surprise.
But, as for now.... probably no hair.

Hey Dino.
Must be great participating in this film. Watching convert from print, to web series and now to cinema.
Hoping for a larger valiant cinema universe, with bloodshot just the start.

I wish their was a Spinal Tap comic, and I had a copy CGC graded at 11.

Re: First look at Vin Diesel as Bloodshot
I’m low key stoked for this. Love VD as Riddick and the stone cold badassery of that portrayal could certainly lead to a dope Bloodshot. We dont need much more than that if the rest of the movie does its job well.

Haha, yep. I don't think those hair products shown on the old late night t.v. commercials for the spray on powdered hair ...or.... The Hairclub For Men will work. Maybe Velcro-Wig surpise?

Re: First look at Vin Diesel as Bloodshot
I'm not sure I agree, entirely. Well, maybe if it "totally bombs". But if Greg's theory is right that DMG has Aric lined up for a Universal release (someday) they'd probably see that through since it would be the first movie entirely in their hands.StarBrand wrote:What do you guys mean by “the end of Valiant”?BugsySig wrote:Yup. Re: First look at Vin Diesel as Bloodshot
It seems to me at this point that DMG is only interested in VALIANT properties for their potential as Film and TV franchises. That’s where the big money is at, and they want a return on what has been speculated to be a very large investment. If Bloodshot fails, the likelihood of sequels, Harbinger and the Harbinger Wars crossover being made decreases. Doesn’t mean a property at another studio won’t get made (such as XO), but the film industry isn’t always known for its speed, and given the stock/investment issues DMG may (or may not) be dealing with, can they afford to wait? Publishing a small line of comics is not ever going to be profitable and, therefore, will never be a priority for DMG. Should they not work out as a film and tv franchise farm, I have my doubts as to whether they would continue publication. At that point they could attempt to sell off the properties in order to recoup as much of their money as they can or, in a worst case scenario, the company goes under at some point and the properties go back into legal bankruptcy limbo a la the end of Acclaim. So basically, IMHO, VALIANT’s future may hinge on this film at least being profitable.StarBrand wrote:What do you guys mean by “the end of Valiant”?BugsySig wrote:Yup. Re: First look at Vin Diesel as Bloodshot
I like Greg's post about a bomb or flop. (Although not linked to sums below.)
If I invested 300m on a film and it brought back 315m, I have made 5% on a large investment, but with ALOT of risk.
Van Deisel big star lowers risk.
5% for such a huge investment is not worth it. Is it a flop? Bomb? No.
People have made profit. Future films may bring in additional funds as the series progressed in the development of further films.
Maybe Dino knows, but we viewers have no idea what bottom line needs to be crossed to have a profit on a film, or when that profit needs to be realised.
Once was film is made it brings in money every time it is viewed or sold via DVD or to a tv channel for broadcasting rights.
I find it strange that a film is a flop/ bomb if it doesn't gross more that it's production cost in the first week/ month. Is Hollywood so fickle? I don't think so, profit is profit. Money is money.
The risk here is the new property comming to the major motion picture market.
Risk has already been made and assessed. Big star on the screen - whatever the critics say, even if deemed a flop - film will be In profit. You don't risk 300m ( or whatever the film costs) for 5% return on a new property. Why do you think do many remakes have been made.

Here’s something someone pointed out to me yesterday. I thought it was interesting, so I’ll share here
If you look at the far right, green shoes and green socks, that’s Sam Heugen (I think, no clue). He’s got a sensor on his head, and a sensor mid way on his shin. Just thought it was interesting.
