I would expect no less from a book called Lazarus. :thumb:
This comic came back from the DEAD!

It's probably running late due to Ruka's work on Wonder Woman which probably pays the bills for creator-owned work like Lazarus.

Rucka makes plenty of money on Lazarus and his other creator owned work. He said as much in a panel at Rose City Comic Con last year. I think the art is mostly to blame. That's why they're doing a Lazarus miniseries with other artists to give them time to get ahead on the main book. It's worth the wait.

My bad then.
I guess he's lucky then because some creators don't make as much money off creator-owned books and that means they have to do work at bigger publishers to pay the bills or hope their creator-owned work takes off and does very well.

Well, the X+66 mini-series of side stories is finally done & we're about to get back to the main book at long last... #27 is due out next week. I am still loving this comic so so much. Its my absolute top favourite current comic series being published. That final issue of X+66 with the story amount the Zmey Vassalovka lazarus was awesome.
"He is named “the Zmey,” called “the Dragon” and “the Beast.” He wears the bodies of his enemies into battle and has committed atrocities beyond description. Of all the Families, it is the Vassalovka Lazarus who has proven himself Forever Carlyle's greatest foe. This is the story of the Dragon."
:thumb: :thumb:

I sincerely hope Lazarus does get made into a quality tv series still - progress on that is slow but it seems to be still happening behind the scenes.

Loved issue #27 - I might have developed some sympathy for Jonah after seeing that he survived the ocean toss and seems to have carved out a quiet life for himself over the years that have passed since that event. Looking forward to the conclusion of this prelude 2-part story.

Also picked up the trade collection of the three family sourcebooks - I wasn't going to, but after glancing through it I saw that there are some expanded & additional sections in each of the three families books. Well worth it to double up & also just to have it all in one book. :thumb:

Gonna be a little adjustment getting used to the new publishing schedule after #28 comes out - the book is moving to a quarterly release plan starting with #29. Sounds rough, but the bonus is that each issue will be 64 pages!! Extended main story & a lot more additional background material per issue. I think it'll be worth the wait at that rate.

I just finished the X+66 trade. I almost passed on it! What the hell was I thinking?! It was fantastic.

I wasn't planning on getting the source book collection because it seems like it would be like reading a D&D manual. But I do love all things Lazarus. How much did you guys enjoy the source book material?

My favourites were the issue with Casey in training to get into the Dagger unit, the Nkosi/Meyers-Qasimi joint-Lazarus mission issue & the final one with the Zmey, but I honestly thought they were all really good & I enjoyed that they were each about various characters who don't all see the spotlight in the regular series. I thought these issues collectively gave us a good glimpse into how the worlds current events are playing out.

I read every page of the Carlyle & Hock sourcebooks but haven't had time to read the Vassalovka one yet. I'm seriously pretty heavily into this comic, so I really enjoyed the deep dive into the background details in these. All the graphics, maps, fake ads, army rank symbols and technical drawings are cool to check out, even if you don't read all the write ups in these.

I’m way behind on this title but is it necessary to be up to date to enjoy X+66 or is it a prequel or a stand alone thing? Where does it fit in?

X+66 is meant to be read after Cull, which is the 5th story arc/tpb in the series. Even though each issue is a stand-alone story, they're all set after the events of Cull.

Catch up, dude! You won't regret it! :) :thumb:

Fuuuuuuuuuuck dude, you weren't kidding. I have been slogging through my growing pile of trades and finally got around to re-reading/catching up on Lazarus. Read both HC 1 and HC2, Cull and now X+66. I know there's 2 issues out that I haven't read yet so I'll have to get those digitally but holy *SQUEE* this series is amazing. I gave the first HC to my wife to read. All of the politics/family drama remind me of Game of Thrones, which we both enjoy so I am hoping she might like this, too. The whole series and concept is so well thought out...wow.

All of the stuff about the young replacement Forevers, skipping medication, the story in X+66 about a growing resistance. This series blew my mind several times.

I hadn't heard about the switch to the quarterly schedule so hopefully it's something I can stay more current on now. With the holidays coming up, get at least the first HC on your shopping list and give this series a try.

Do you guys know if the Sourcebooks and X+66 series will be collected in a HC edition. I imagine the Cull arc will be in the 3rd HC Volume, but was curious what else would be in there.

Thanks!

I don’t have many details, but I saw a post by Michael Lark on Twitter recently showcasing a new cover art piece for a Harcover collection including Cull & X+66, & the last two single issues.

At long last, the first of the new quarterly over-sized issues is out! Haven't read it yet, but on a flip-through its looking pretty fantastic...

Read a preview copy Image sent me a few weeks ago ...

All I have to say is I am glad it is back, it has been gone so long I forgot just how good it is.

I like the new format, you get a big chunk of story and tons of back matter.

It may not be a popular format among general collectors, but its cool to me. I love the idea of oversized issues packed with extras, even if they're coming out much less frequently.

Looks like you can now order the Volume 3 HC on DCBS:

https://www.dcbservice.com/product/jul1 ... hc-vol-03-(mr" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;)

Collects #22-26, Lazarus X+66 #1-6.

I was hoping the Sourcebooks would be part of the HC collection, but it does not appear to be the case. I guess I will have to buy the Sourcebook TP that collects the first three Sourcebooks.
