Just saw this - thought I'd post it here. I like that we're getting something new from Valiant. Does this mean the other app is finished? Quidd, I think it was called...
I'll likely check this out.

Re: New Valiant Collectible Card Game App
This press release reads like its for investors, not consumers. What does it mean for fans? What is it? What type of "community engagement" does it have from a user perspective? Has it been successful for other games?
What's going on Valiant?

I agree that there's not a ton of specifics but I'm not having a hard time imagining what it could be like, based on the description.
provide fans with a mix of original sketches, covers, panels, and recreated pages in a fun, social app that includes mini-games and VirtTrade’s proprietary trade and collect functions.

Is this why we've seen no new Valiant content on Quidd?

If they thought it might make a return on their investment they would probably do it. I don't think the market for Valiant is sufficient to support physical cards.WrathOfArmstrong wrote:

Here's more info on VirtTrade: https://www.merciatech.co.uk/portfolio/virttrade/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
VirtTrade is a developer and publisher of digital trading cards, working with licensors to create high engagement apps for fans. VirtTrade targets the £2.4billion trading cards market. The company received its first investment from Mercia’s managed funds in early 2014 and it was held in the managed funds portfolio for approximately one year before becoming an Emerging Star at the end of 2014.
Collectors use in-app currency to purchase packs of cards that can be traded with anyone, anywhere. Cards can carry live data, vibrant imagery, interactive areas, video footage, game statistics and more. The habit-forming nature of trading card collecting transfers well to the digital space, with VirtTrade’s monthly revenue per paying user reaching over $30.0.
VirtTrade’s trading card innovations include matchmaking for trades, the ability to fuse duplicates to create rare new cards, collection achievements and instant challenge multiplayer games. Following Mercia’s initial investment in 2015, VirtTrade developed apps for Panini’s flagship properties, the NFL and NBA, and over 100.0million cards were distributed on the platform to over a million users.
VirtTrade is now viewed as a leading publisher in this growing segment, having secured rights to Discovery Networks, Valiant Entertainment and Formula 1. Thanks to a streamlined content creation platform and white label apps, VirtTrade was able to go from concept to beta for Formula 1 in just three months, with 250 cards ready for the June 2018 launch and a dedicated ‘head-to-head’ race mode where players can put their card collections to the test on Grand Prix circuits. The Formula 1 Trading Card Game 2018 was launched on the App Store (iPhone) and Play Store (Android) in June 2018.

VirtTrade has a 3-year agreement with Valiant: https://www.merciatech.co.uk/news-media ... formula-1/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
This new Formula 1 partnership follows the recent agreement of a three-year collaboration with Valiant Comics to develop an extensive digital collectibles app, based on the company's characters and titles.

Re: New Valiant Collectible Card Game App
I am probably not part of the target group of this product . . . I am not spending anything near $30 per month as suggested in one of the above links.
I was on Quidd but I was a free user (log in, claim coins, use coins to buy packs). In the last few months, Quidd has moved more to a pay-model where you can only get certain cards by paying real money. The pay-model did not affect Valiant because there has been no Quidd Valiant cards for a while.

Re: New Valiant Collectible Card Game App
I don't get the appeal of collecting tiny digital images of things I already have print copies of. Maybe if the art was made exclusively for the cards. And printed. But again I have to question the point of a card game for a company that only publishes 5 books a month. How many characters and images in this game have no coinciding book on the shelf?WrathOfArmstrong wrote:Maybe I'm too old... but what happened to real cards? physical cards. these are digital images...

Re: New Valiant Collectible Card Game App
I downloaded and 'test drove' the F1 TCG app last night. It's very slick, graphics and sounds and everything are a major step up from Quidd. It does seem to favor VIP and paying members, every paid bundle seems to give you 18 hours of VIP access. Not sure exactly what that entails. The head to head challenge was fun, you had to play cards based on the shape and upcoming turns of the racetrack from maximum effectiveness.
I'll definitely give the Valiant CCG a shot when it comes out and see how it goes.

I don't think I could see myself paying money in this game (I might watch tons of ads ), but it looks like it could still be fun just to collect and trade if nothing else.
I'm etos45 on there if anyone wants to add me.

Re: New Valiant Collectible Card Game App
I've played it a lot the last couple of days. The battle system is pretty simple and you can just overpower anyone who hasn't played long. They knocked down some of the high-stat cards today to more reasonable levels and that helps a little, but there's not much strategy. And the collectible part isn't really deep enough. I'd rather see something like the Topps apps with card counts and plenty of free packs.

Re: New Valiant Collectible Card Game App
Me neither. Like Nonplayer said, digital content like this isn't really real - everything you 'own' (term used loosely) is just a tiny pixel image taken from comics we already physically own. Don't really see the point in the 'collectability' component of the cards in that respect. I understand how the cards are tools you play the game with and that's fair enough, but it's not for me.kinggirlfriend wrote:I don't get the appeal of collecting tiny digital images of things I already have print copies of. I wish their was a Spinal Tap comic, and I had a copy CGC graded at 11.
