Congrats to Lysa Hawkins!
Now if we could just get DMG to expand the monthly line a little, in addition to the editorial staff...

Well her Plastic Man, Domino, and The Movement were awful and Batgirl was almost unreadable, so........Chiclo wrote:She still writes good comic stories regardless of her thoughts outside the medium.TheFerg714 wrote:Please god no...WrathOfArmstrong wrote:Fingers crossed she can lure Gail Simone once more... this time to the Valiant Universe...

They should hire someone who has read all the Valiant issues since 2012. They can hire 50 editors and still get it wrong with 5.
I Miss the good old days.

I grow weary of these editorial/management announcements. Why does Valiant seem to be growing larger, yet we can't see a tangible growth in the quality or quantity of the comics they publish?
I'd rather have both.jeremycoe wrote:I'd rather have an editor than a fanboy.nonplayer wrote:They should hire someone who has read all the Valiant issues since 2012. They can hire 50 editors and still get it wrong with 5.

Continuity in the universe having the charaters be them selves with self morals and direction that fits their indeviduel needs. Yes spelling and grammar for any publisher is a must. But to me its the norm like paint on a new car or wheels.jeremycoe wrote:I'd rather have an editor than a fanboy.nonplayer wrote:They should hire someone who has read all the Valiant issues since 2012. I didn't care for her Batgirl run, and I never read The Movement.....But I think her run on Plastic Man is the best take I've seen on the character in a long time. As for Domino, it's pretty good.TheFerg714 wrote:Well her Plastic Man, Domino, and The Movement were awful and Batgirl was almost unreadable, so........Chiclo wrote:She still writes good comic stories regardless of her thoughts outside the medium.TheFerg714 wrote:Please god no...WrathOfArmstrong wrote:Fingers crossed she can lure Gail Simone once more... this time to the Valiant Universe...

Are you saying you haven't read anything you've liked from Simone? Not even Villains United, her first few storylines in Birds of Prey, and Rose & Thorn? That stuff was gold!
I didn't like her work on Wonder Woman, Batgirl, nor the later parts of Secret Six & Birds of Prey, respectively, but she's done some good work. I don't know how she would fit into the Valiant Universe, it's a 50/50 thing, IMO.

An editor is in charge of a lot more than proofreading, if that's what you're implying. A good editor gives constructive criticism that improves the end product. S/he points out where writers aren't getting the point across that they're trying to make, or where there are inconsistencies, or where artists could improve their game, or links up creators that would work well together.nonplayer wrote:Continuity in the universe having the charaters be them selves with self morals and direction that fits their indeviduel needs. I got the impression that the editor also sets the direction of the stories, unless i misunderstand that. It seemed to me that Warren was quite influential in what stories were told.kjjohanson wrote:An editor is in charge of a lot more than proofreading, if that's what you're implying. Re: Valiant Editorial expands...
I like hearing about this stuff but I'd rather hear about expanding the line. 2 Valiant books per week would keep them around 8 or so per month, so not stretching it all that much from the current line of 6. fingers cross this happens
