2018 CGC Registry Awards (Valiant ONLY of course)
The results will be out officially on 20 JUL 18.
How do you expect that your sets performed?
My Divinity set will take the top spot for the third year, and I am working on getting Divinity #0 added to the set for 2019.
After nearly a decade, the legendary Worldsbestcomics’s Harbinger (1992) set has been bumped out of the top spot as my Harbinger (1992) set has finally taken the title. Still have 2-3 books to upgrade in order to be fully satisfied and move on to the next collection goal.

Re: 2018 CGC Registry Awards (Valiant ONLY of course)
I’ve got several I’m first in, but I’m a bit scattered to tkrealky focus on any one.
V1:
Armorines
Bloodshot
Deathmate
Magnus
Mirage
Ninjak
Rai
Secret Weapon
Solar
Timewalker
Valiant Variants
Visitor
Acclaim:
Shadowman
Unity 2000
VEI:
4001
Armor Hunters
Book of Death
Divinity II
Wrath
Got bumped out of a lot of sets this year. It’s not for a lack of trying! I just seem to try to keep up on the current issues and whatever comes across my desk/face. No time to actually search for specific books.

Not Divinity II and III, then you would have the ultra, mega all-time Divinity collectionDirtbagSailor wrote:Imperium, Armor Hunters, or Archer & Armstrong (1992).jaden_sai wrote:What’s your next goal?Still have 2-3 books to upgrade in order to be fully satisfied and move on to the next collection goal.

I could do this; however, it is already becoming quite the chore to get each cover of Divinity #0 in 9.8 lol!jaden_sai wrote:Not Divinity II and III, then you would have the ultra, mega all-time Divinity collection

Ain't that the truth. I was flipping through my copies of Imperium last night, choosing my best copies for my "master set." Lots of VF.DirtbagSailor wrote:I could do this; however, it is already becoming quite the chore to get each cover of Divinity #0 in 9.8 lol!jaden_sai wrote:Not Divinity II and III, then you would have the ultra, mega all-time Divinity collection

Re: 2018 CGC Registry Awards (Valiant ONLY of course)
What is the CGC Registry? Never really understood what this was. Is this all the comics you've submitted for CGC grading? Or is it basically a tracker of all comics you own that you can submit?
I want to say my total Valiant collection at this point is around 700 comics, but I haven't registered any. Notable collections are full runs of 90's Harbingers, Solar Man of the Atom, Magnus Robot Fighter, and Shadowman. I think for the 90's runs, I'm missing maybe 5 issues of the 33 Rai issues, maybe 12 issues of Eternal Warrior, 3 of Quantum & Woody, 4 Archer & Armstrong, and quite a few of Bloodshot. Fortunately, most of the books I am missing are the cheap ones that I find in the $0.25-$1.00 boxes every so often.

My TOTAL collection of Valiant comics is about 700 individual issues. It's over 700 when figuring in duplicates

Re: 2018 CGC Registry Awards (Valiant ONLY of course)
Oh, ok. The CGC Registry requires a CGC serial number from a slab for whatever books you want to register. I was thinking that if you had 700 slabs and weren't even influenced by the CGC Registry, then you were a unique cat.markie7235 wrote:LOL, oh god no...That's why I was asking. Re: 2018 CGC Registry Awards (Valiant ONLY of course)
Haha, while I would say 80% of my collection is NM/MT condition (9.6-9.8+ range), right now with current market values, I just can't justify or afford to slab let's say 500+ books at $30 a pop. It would be awesome to do, but for me personally (not criticizing anyone else's investment), I just don't see any possible return on investment for doing that. Plus, I'm already running out of space in my man-cave currently to display slabbed books. I'd have to add a LOT more shelving to display that many books. Good god, 500 slabs books would probably fill the entirety of my master bedroom closet. I'd have to buy a new home just to store all of thosegreg wrote:Oh, ok. Pretty sure I have more than 1000 Valiant slabs, if you count VEI, Nintendo and Acclaim books.

That is very impressive!
That is a very dedicated and focused goal to reach. I think there are just a few of us that belong in that club. I'm curious to know who all have reached this goal? I think I'm in the 1500 range. Not sure... and it's always changing.

Thought of you when I typed that! Every time I see Fred, he asks me how many, and I have no idea. I used to have multiple copies of certain books, but I thumbed them down to 1 unique Slab per Issue. It’s fun, and definitely a marathon, as opposed to a sprint. Given the number of sets I was bumped out of immediately this year, it made me think there are folks who have more than in do who I do not even know about.

My only Valiant slabs are VH1 Magnus 0 (9.6) and Harbinger 1 (9.2)
However, my Gold Key Magnus set (1-46 in avg. 9.6) will continue to reign supreme this year.
Next up...trying to move up to # 2 on the Doctor Solar list (aiming for 1-31 in straight 9.0 or higher & an average of 9.3).
