I'd love to do something like that myself. back in the day I used thumb tacks...it was the 90s...

Re: My VEI Wall Display is Officially Complete
I've gone through a lot of phases with various comic runs over the last few years. First thumbtacks, then tape, then that sticky blue poster hanger stuff (no idea what it's actually called). The ledge is literally just a long piece of wood wrapped in black duct tape. It was the cheap and easy alternative at first, but I think the shine from the duct tape actually looks kind of cool and it has a nice grip so the comics don't slip off.WrathOfArmstrong wrote:Looks awesome. What's the ledge you're using?

The event #1's are held up using that sticky blue stuff I was talking about, and the comics on the shelves are using a tiny bit of it too, just so they don't fall off every time there's a breeze from the window.

Re: My VEI Wall Display is Officially Complete
That looks really good!
If I was OCD, I would have a problem with the weird spacing of the books on the ledge... how there are gaps that don't make any sense as far as regular spacing is concerned.
But I'm not OCD.
So I won't mention it.

Never would've guessed it was duct tape.

Thats a cool display. You might want to consider buying some Mil Cases for your books in the event they fall. The hard plastic might keep them from getting damaged if they take a spill off of your display wall....

Thanks for the nice words everyone!
I've had it up for a couple months, but didn't want to post it here until HW2 came out.

Tell me about it! It's also a nice end to any day. Kinda gives me something to focus my mind on so I can fall asleep easier.Summydad1 wrote:Looks good. I like the theme. It’s nice to look at every day. Great start to any day.
Ok thank you! I will definitely consider it for the gold books, but my bed is directly beneath it and I honestly wouldn't be too worried if any of them were damaged. I have doubles of some of them, and the rest I can just buy again if I they are so damaged that I wouldn't want to display them, but I don't really see that happening.IMJ wrote: Thats a cool display. OK, well, now you have to tell us the story of that drywall damage next to HW2 above your bed.TheFerg714 wrote:my bed is directly beneath it

Re: My VEI Wall Display is Officially Complete
Looks nice!
I actually used house sheeting for mine (or something like that). It is metal with about an inch lip on it, that way both CGC graded and ungraded issues sit nicely on that lip. I've tried pounding on the wall or jumping upstairs, and they don't fall. I'll try and get a picture to share tonight.
My only worry with using putty or anything like that where it's holding it by the back was 1) that stuff can weaken over time and didn't want to risk one of the issues falling and getting damaged and 2) wasn't sure it would support the weight of a graded plastic encased book.
The sheeting I want to say cost me less than $10 and I can fit around 20 comics on what I currently have up.

Nicely done. Something to be proud of as you gaze upon the greatness that is Valiant. Of course while sipping your morning coffee.
I need to do something like that rather than my Valiant CGC's just sit in a well protected box.

Re: My VEI Wall Display is Officially Complete
A note on display, as I have been looking into it though. I have some star wars figures (of course still in their packaging) that I put up on my wall using some white inch width thin boards, nailed to a half inch thin board. That way they do not have a chance to fall.
