Poll to get a better feel for reboot support

Running this poll due to discussion in another thread about speculative universal reboots and how many support or oppose it. Trying to get more accurate data instead of citing just my memory of past conversations.

The odds are 14,600,005 to 1 (maybe 2) that I would buy the same amount or even more titles... but I would definitely check out the first couple of books and see from there. So for now it's "No - I would likely buy fewer titles than I do now."

The ongoing books, I would continue to support, but if Bloodshot was the only one to get rebooted, back to square one, I don't think I could support anything like that.

Now, that's different then, say, visiting a different time during his timeline. If a new story fit in after Armor Hunters, yet before The Valiant, I'd give that a read, because it's still on his original time line.

Not at all interested.
I expect reboot and gimmicky crap from Marvel and DC. I came to Valiant to get away from all that.

Valiant barely has any titles that make it past issue #25. Each arc these days practically gets it's own #1. What would the point of a reboot be?

I came to VEI for the break from constant reboots/reshufflings, etc. Valiant should continue as is. Producing mini-series specifically to bring in new readers, while continuing other series into the 1000s. I am more inclined to check out a series that is on book 50 or 100 (even if I have to do it by a giant purchase of trades) because that 'quantity' means the book must be well liked. And in this day, a long running series says a lot more than a new #1 to me.

Unlike DC and Marvel, Valiant just doesn't have the kind of history where a reboot is necessary. I started reading last year. and was able to read everything in a few months. Hopefully the compendiums make it easier for new fans to jump in--but only my desire to have all the hardcovers gave me challenge. Nothing truly convoluted has happened yet to make the Valiant universe inaccessible. Build on this one.

Plus Issue 25 and Issue 50 and so on... are deserving of super duper holographic foil exclusive variant variant covers too...not just #1s.

Exactly. Universes only reboot when they have too many things "out of whack" for their storytelling goals. Valiant hasn't backed itself into any corners with the stories. Valiant already does #1 issues regularly, so it's not a reboot to start back at #1 if everything that happened before still happened. I can't think of anything that DMG needs to "undo" before they go in any direction they want, unless they think they really need Flamingo back. :?

That's not exactly the question posed in the poll.

Do I oppose it? Yes, put me down as strongly opposed.

Would I check it out and possibly continue to buy if it was good? Yeah, probably.

Its almost dangerous to say two diametrically opposed opinions like this, but I feel that way too. Absolutely do NOT want to see a reboot [no need for it, as Greg & WoA stated above], but if it was a well developed idea that actually sounded good, I'd at least check it out.

And thus the idea of reboots ends up seeming to be appealing to the sales & marketing types, because they'd get a sales boost with any #1's...

Mind you, I don't have any VALIANT based reboot fatigue yet because they haven't done it. I'd be mightily disappointed if they joined that trend, and I doubt I'd have much patience to support them for long once they start into it [if they do].

I have a full run of xo that's not going stop me from collecting it unless it goes to anime raffer down the drain.
Same with bloodshot.
I probably wont pick up harbinger if there was a reboot. Savage I'd pass on. Eternal warrior Id try it out with the first issue. Faith a and a q and a pretty much everything else I'm out anyway.
A label change. If dmg changes valiant label to dmg xo and blood shot are the only issues I'd keep following.
I Miss the good old days.

Posted by Mel Caylo as a quote from Joe Illidge:
"Everything will still be canon with the Valiant Universe. HARBINGER WARS 2 will lead to a thematic shift for the world, and the new status quo will build on everything that has come before since 2012."

That tells me there is no reboot.

Yep! Status quo shake up, like I said. Very happy to hear if straight from the source though.

I chose ice cream. I'll have to wait to see what they do and who the creative teams are. I'm more likely to follow creators than characters no matter how much I love a character.

This is the only line of thought that makes any sense to me. So, without that as a poll option, no vote from me as both options are oriented too strongly in either direction.

I think rebooting would be a collossal mistake. We've already seen how hard it is for Valiant to attract new readers into the universe, and not for lack of trying all kinds of innovative strategies. I don't think a reboot would entice any significant amount of new readers, and it presents a clear offramp to a lot of people who are invested in the current continuity. If they reboot, I would give it less than a year before the entire publishing line gets shut down.

If they did a full reboot with some continuity in mind and promised contiguous series, then I'd likely give them a shot again.

Having departed VEI books due to the collector-based gimmicks of making some story content hard to access, if a reboot came without such gimmicks then VEI could win me back as a reader.
VEI - I look forward to you one day publishing MORE than 9-10 books per month
