Re: Discuss Hard To Find Or Currently Hot Comics Of Any Era
I thought that's Dark Knights: The Casting.corey wrote:Batman who laughs. 1st app.

I have been talking about this on the Bat-thread, I also agree this character will be way more popular than what he already is. But his 1st (and all of the Dark Knights) was the book I mentioned, I'm sure- and DC Wikia has it as that, also. His other hot book is the obvious Batman Who Laughs #1. I have been collecting the foils for the series and damn, I'm glad I did it from the start- some books like the 1st print foil Red Death are 20 USD and up.
EDIT - Went back and checked my books. Casting has them appear at the last page, but its more of a cameo (you can't see the characters clearly, covered in shadows). And the same on Metal #1. So, you are correct, if we're talking first full appearance, but the first full appearance is (according to DCW) Dark Nights: Metal #2. This book was published on September 13th, same as TT12.

EDIT 2- Ebay has lots of Titans 12 as the 1st full appearance. I do not understand this, if the Metal #2 came out in the same day and TT12 happens AFTER it, shouldn't Dark Nights: Metal #2 be the 1st one? Now I'm confused.
EDIT 3 - Oh, so this debate has been a "thing" for a while- had no idea.

Lol *SQUEE*.I guess this means we have to buy them all? DC didn't play fair on this 1st app.

Yeah, pretty much.corey wrote:Lol *SQUEE*.I guess this means we have to buy them all? DC didn't play fair on this 1st app.

Scott Snyder says the 1st app is Metal #2, but the market apparently says otherwise.

It looks like Usagi Yojimbo books are starting to get some money love. Makes sense.... Rabid fan base that just grows slowly over time. Timeless stories with some morality to many of the stories. Love me some Sakai.

It has to do with the upcoming cartoon, right?400yrs wrote:It looks like Usagi Yojimbo books are starting to get some money love. Makes sense.... Rabid fan base that just grows slowly over time. Timeless stories with some morality to many of the stories. Love me some Sakai.
I also love Usagi, anyone who hasn't read it is missing out on one of the best comic series ever.

I have only bought the main Dark Knights Metal mini-series. Which books do I have that are relevant or key?

In pre production, but you know how these things are. Stan is very optimistic about it, but then, when is Stan Sakai not optimistic about anything Usagi?400yrs wrote:There's a cartoon? I would not hold my breath for it, honestly. This had some problems with staff already, read that somewhere. Let's

Metal #2 is officially, according to the damn writer himselfIMJ wrote:I have only bought the main Dark Knights Metal mini-series. Which books do I have that are relevant or key?

On this particular dude, Ebay says f that, it's Teen Titans #12. For story purposes, IMHO, DKM#2 is the book to get for these. But, you know, market rules and all that. Perhaps due to a lower print run, TT already has the upper advantage... but that makes no sense to me. I'm sticking with my meagre horde of 3 copies of #2, long term sight and all that.

Barbatos appears for the first time in the Casting prelude, which is also the first cameo of the Dark Knights. On the prelude side there's also the 1st Immortal Men (The Forge). I don't know if you consider this part of the main series, but they are worth to get/read, not that expensive save for the Metal foil 1st prints (my LCS is really pushing hard on those - +20 Euros each, but these might get really pricey when the market settles on this matter.)
Metal #4 has Daniel explaining the new Mythology of the DCU. First appearance of the World Forge and The Forger, both really add a real "whole new thang" to the DCU history. But the first appearance of the Dark Multiverse is in the one-shot The Red Death, which is kinda crazy-pricey right now. I'll wait for a while (and since this character already died), I'm sure I can get this foil 1st print for 10/20 dollars tops, in a few months. The speculators really jumped on this book.
Hope this helps, in a way!

Re: Discuss Hard To Find Or Currently Hot Comics Of Any Era
Just a add-on to the Metal checklist:
you don't want to miss #6, its the beginning of the (for real) NEW, EXPANDED DC Multiverse.
New characters appear that we don't know yet (some are speculating of the Old Gods
), lots of possibilities here, DC might have done their best move on the multiverse thing in years, since restoring the damn thing. Right now, with the Source Wall broken, who can say what's on the other side?
I loved the Snyder explanation of the pre-#6 DCU being like a water bowl that just got dropped into the ocean. That's big. And it can be great for the future of this industry, a la nu52 did for sales. These New Age books might have failed the hype, but this new slate is intriguing, we might get a DC Earth without any of the characters we know. Or 10 Earths, who knows.
This is like COIE #11, in my opinion, if not more important, after all the crisis reboots that have undone COIE.
Its not the quality of this comic, its how big of a change it brings to the publisher's playground.

At the rate comic book films/shows are going, it is important to hold on to all 1st appearances. I'm going to kick myself if Image titles like Glory, Superpatriot, and Troll get their own movie or TV series.slym2none wrote:A run from 78 to 90-something for $1 last neighborhood flea market.Chiclo wrote:Did you sell this issue a couple of months ago?slym2none wrote:OMG, this is ridiculous...
