What comics are you reading now?

Everything else comic-related that's not VALIANT-related.

It is so good. The best comic currently being produced.
I agree 100%. I just finished the first three trades. When I was done I couldn't read anything for a week. Nothing looked as clean and crisp to my eyes. I brought them in to work for a co worker to read and when was done he brought them to my desk and said he already looked up the release date for volume 4. The story, Art, dialog, pace, and style of this book is exceptional.
Did you order the East of West HC for $25 collecting issues #1-15 that DCBS has listed?

I have all the floppies of this book in addition to having them in digital, but I'm probably going to buy this to get signed at SDCC.

Recently wrapped up reading the Indiana Jones comics that Dark Horse did. I've got them in the two omnibuses that DH did. A few good stories are buried in them quite surprised by the length of the stories actually, longer than I'd of guessed to be honest. Also love the paper quality it's the kind I'd like for Valiants remasters.

The next set is my pure addiction, I am a sucker for comicbook and novel tie in fiction.

Re-read the Uncharted comic, it's set either between 1 and 2 or you could make an argument that it takes place before the games as no mentions of the first game are made. Good little story that shows how Nathan met Chloe and ultimately the level of said relationship. Outside of that just a run of the mill adventure story that tries to mimick the games pace but misses some beats.

Re-read Volumes One and Two plus Ashbringer for World of Warcraft. Someone once comment that Battle Chasers has been influencing WoW's art as of late and I'd have to agree. Big bulky armor on pretty slim guys along with massive swords and other weapons. Still the stories not that bad wouldn't hurt if you have some form of WoW knowledge. The opening story is actually wrapped pretty quick in the first two volumes. Ashbringer was a separate and much shorter mini and while important to game lore it's not as entertaining.

and finally read VEI-era Rai volume one.

Oh, that's awesome! I stopped reading that book around #120 back when it was being published, and never got the last 30+ issues, but I did just complete my set of 1-120 last year with two long missing stragglers, 18 & 20. Love that stuff. :thumb: :thumb:

Was the #21 in good shape in the set you picked up?

Started reading Mind MGMT courtesy of my local library. Plowed through book one and really enjoyed it and I'm now in the middle of book two. I feel like I would have hated Kindt's art a few years ago but I really like it. I really like that he is like the one stop shop on this run - writer/artist/colorist.

Just read: Thanos vs. Hulk #1-4, Thanos: Infinity Revelation OGN, Harley Quinn #10-15, Annual #1, Holiday Special #1, and Valentine's Day Special #1, and Justice League 3000 #9-15

All of them are pretty good reads.

Captain America: Captain America Lives Again Epic Collection 1 = Fun, brief action-packed stories.
Star Wars: The Original Marvel Years Omnibus 1 = Far more enjoyable than I anticipated.
Daredevil Masterworks 1 = Darker than I remember. Even lame villains like The Purple Man can't seem to ruin it. Classic stuff!
Hulk Masterworks 1 = Off to a boring start.
Amazing Spider-Man Masterworks 12 = The Death of Gwen is just around the corner.
Re-reading all the original Valiants pretty much in order and think modern Valiant is a huge improvement, sans Shadowman. Marvel and DC should take notes.

Lots of good Image comics lately, my current fav's;

Lazarus - if this becomes a TV show after all, look out! My top favourite comic right now even over most Valiant books!

East Of West - enough has been said elsewhere in the EoW thread.

Drifter - more sci-fi excellence, mind blowing artwork.

Injection - new series from Warren Ellis & Declan Shalvey. Wasn't entirely sure I liked it after the 1st issue, but thoroughly hooked by the ideas beginning to be revealed in #3!

Trees - another Warren Ellis series, this one is enjoyable but starting to lag a bit. Tons of plot lines going on.

Descender - Jeff Lemire's Sci-Fi story about robots & androids in the future.

Walking Dead - still going strong, pretty cool current developments.

Invincible - always love this superhero book.

Ack! Forgot a bunch! So many good Image books...

We Stand On Guard - great fun book about Canada being taken over by America... Dunlow would love it :P

Invisible Republic - really cool Sci-Fi series about the life of a Dictator before he became one, as read from a diary written by his sister after he has been deposed.

Nameless - pure Grant Morrison insanity.

Southern Cross - another creepy/mystery/Sci-Fi book.

Spread - still enjoying this Thing/Mad Max mash-up from Justin Jordan.

Kaptara - hilarious Sci-Fi/Fantasy spoof written & drawn by a couple of guys I went to school with ages ago.

I just read the first Saga trade.

Dude.

I love the story telling in this book.

I held off for a loooong time with it-because it seemed like a weird fetish book with allof the breast feeding; but I should have trusted Vaughn. I always love his work.

I still think it's weird how much of a focus the breastfeeding gets, but at least now I understand why.

Last night from the top of my weekly pile I read: TMNT: April & Casey #3
On top of the pile for tonight: Aquaman #43
Then the pile is gone and my slow burn collected volume by the nightstand is Essential Zombie. I'm about 1/5 through that presently.

Airboy is one of those titles that should not be nearly as engrossing as it is and that's definite credit towards Chuck Dixon as a writer. The man's like Peter David, he can take an absolute turd of an idea and make it glisten

I've been reading Transmetropolitan mostly. Mainly got into it because I wanted to see what all the fuss was about, wasn't expecting to enjoy it so much. Also rotating between Doctor Fate volume 2 and various comic book runs of Lee Falk's The Phantom

Right now I'm reading "The Immortal Doctor Fate" that collects some of the stuff from when he was a fixture in Action Comics Weekly back in the 80's. I'm enjoying it well enough so far, I've always been interested in Doctor Fate because of his Egyptian mythological origin. It's the same reason I latched onto Moon Knight

Plutona 1 from image by Lemire and Lenox. No idea if this is an ongoing, but it was really good. It has that slow Lemire creator-owned feel.

Dark Corridor #1 from a dude I've never heard of before was surprisingly good. It's a book about crimes in a particular city. I like the cartoony art. I guess there will be two stories in each issue.

Aquaman Sub Diego TPB - I really enjoyed Will Pfeifer's characterization of Aquaman and his powers and his attitude toward leadership. I am not a fan of Patrick Gleason's art but it didn't take away from the story for me either. I thought the story had a good balance of action, tension, politics, and realism of how the government and citizens and corporations things might actually react if part of California fell into the ocean.

Recommended for Aquaman fans or anyone interested in the character. :thumb:
