Re: A Sign of the Impending Apocalypse?
That sounds like somebody (non-collector) buying somebody else (collector) a gift. All he said was "Harbinger #1 9.8".

Re: A Sign of the Impending Apocalypse?
I genuinely think this is very sad..
I can picture a nice girlfriend/boyfriend that are lacking collectables knowledge. They'd be getting really excited about gifting this and surprise his/her best half and then, in the end
.. They Just end up losing *SQUEE* ton of money for nothing

At most that should be maybe a $100 book.

I guess it’s time to post the PGX 9.8 Solar 10 I got off eBay for $50 ... for $800. I kid, I kid. The book actually is pretty beautiful. Could be a CGC 9.8 contender. No joke.

Re: A Sign of the Impending Apocalypse?
Uninformed bidders occur all the time, there was an thread on the CGC forum regarding an ASM 129 reprint that got out-of-control.

Re: A Sign of the Impending Apocalypse?
After some thought, I’m seriously considering throwing my PGX graded 9.8 Solar 10 on eBay for 10 times what I paid for it. $500 sounds nice. Whatever it would actually grade at from CGC, it is a very nice book on the outside.

Re: A Sign of the Impending Apocalypse?
IMO, A true NM book without coupon is worth more than $100 easy.
Easy.
As we all know a NM Harby 1 is a rare bird.
Now I do know that a Harby 1 w/o coup CANT be NM. But a book in that great of shape, has real value. Coup or. Not.
When considering similar copies and their condition, the known value of the book, the demand for the book, high grade copies are not easy to find.
Now $600+. Ouch. But there is and will be a demand for this book. This is the CLEAR Valiant blue chip book.
Of course, all my opinion.

Maybe the buyer is Dan Mintz. He comes across as clueless.
