Never Truely left

Hi all,

I recently found this forum after discovering the Only The Valiant Podcast. I started at the beginning and am up to 64 so far.

I started collecting just after Unity ended. I don't recall which book was my first, though I remember buying Bloodshot #1 (I think it was around this time or maybe just a little before). I think I probably got turned onto Valiant through Wizard. I kept on picking up books until Mid 1994 when I joined the military. This is the time my comics obsession took a turn for the worse and I sold my collection for $50 (yep, all the Valiants, X-Men, Spider-Man) about 10 long boxes in total eventually whittled down to 1 box of key issues and of course my Valiants. This was probably about 2005 ish. Fast forward to the spring of 2012, my buddy wanted to hit the LCS to look for some horror comics, so I tagged along.
Walking through the door took me back to my younger days, when like a ray of sunshine from the sky I saw a poster advertising X-O Manowar #1. Of course I asked the guy at the counter what this was all about and he told me Valiant was going to start publishing again in a month or so. I've been hooked ever since. A few months later I was in NYC for work and got a chance to wander into the Valiant offices for a quick visit.
The books have been like getting reacquainted with an old friend and have been quite enjoyable.

Welcome. Your story is similar to mine. Following Valiant as an adult brings me back to happy memories as a child. I bet it was cool to go to the Valiant offices. I would like to meet those folks one day too.

Thanks all.

Re-reading the early books has been a lot of fun to see how well most of the stories hold up. Solar Alpha and Omega are still amazing.

Welcome to the board, and back to Valiant!

5 years into this newer iteration, there's plenty of great stuff to dig into. I felt very similar to you on the day I saw a new XO #1 on the shelf. I didn't know they were coming back at the time, but man did those first four re-launch titles hook me in over that summer!

My wife likes to draw stuff too, and she is better than me! [I'm very proud of her]... https://www.facebook.com/pages/Sara-Dec ... ref=stream" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
