Re: What is this Solar #10?
That was a board project several years ago.
As for rarity and all that, I am not sure, but I am sure the history is all here!

It was a limited board project. Probably 75 or less, I'm guessing. It's a bit of Google hunting, but there for sure.

Solar #10 Valiant fan project. 41 copies. More details: viewtopic.php?t=16981" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
If this copy is separate from the signed Solar #10 black cover and certificate, then it's likely that more than 41 fan #10 blues were made.

I saw this particular copy on a FB site and according to the seller it was not signed. I thought all were.

Re: What is this Solar #10?
Ebay sales for fan projects have been somewhat expensive from time-to-time, since they represent "membership" in a very small group of devoted Valiant fans through the years that Valiant wasn't publishing. Most projects were for charity, and they often sold out quickly. After months of planning and coordinating signatures, not to mention getting 40+ copies of some tough Valiant books (like the 41 copies of the original Solar #10 that were the main project)... mailing 40+ packages... many hours of work.
There has been some controversy about selling fan projects, because profiting highly from charity items is weird, and belonging to limited a fan project just to sell it is like pretending to be a fan for profit.
It has been 10 years for a lot of these, so that has changed from the days people would buy a charity book then (suddenly) have an emergency and need to sell it weeks later (for $100+ above cost). Some project collectors have purposefully resold theirs for the original cost, or only a slightly higher price, rather than auction them.
Yes, people have emergencies, but it was a little suspect that the only way to save grandma was to sell their one copy of an extremely limited item (basically worthless outside the community) back to the same community members who missed out on the signup a few weeks earlier... for a big profit... when the project creators who did all the work usually made nothing.
There have also been fan projects not associated with this site... so they had their own stories about distribution and purposes, and their own community, in some cases.

Re: What is this Solar #10?
Is there a list or existing thread listing all ValiantFans.com projects and related items? I'd love to have a copy of the VFans-exclusive FCBD (2012 or 2013) issue but never seen one being offered on the bay. How many copies were made?

Re: What is this Solar #10?
As someone who was a lurker for many years here, I appreciate when folks sell their old project books. I have several, and I appreciate them as I'm a pretty active member here. It doesn't bother me too much that folks profit from it, but every once in awhile, I'm surprised by the sale price of a book, like $150 for this Solar 10 (which I have a copy). The other is the Harby 1 project. Since the movie news, this is a pricey project book.

I have one I can sell you if you'd like. Sadly it got warped from moisture in an accident but otherwise it's intact. PM me if interested. I can provide a scan.
