I was actually surprised by how easily available they were after the fact. I purchased one set of all 4 for about $25 shipped.

Congrats to VEI on a fabulous 5 years!

My highlights include:
-Dysart's Harbinger & Imperium.
-FVL's Archer & Armstrong and his Timewalker series.
-Venditi's epic run on X-O.
-Long running multiple series for Bloodshot.
-Some big successes with smaller titles like Dr. Mirage, Britannia, and Savage.
-Great medium sized crossover events, big enough to matter, small enough not to force connection across the whole universe.
-Keeping a shared superhero universe active and non-rebooted for 5 solid years compared to Marvel & DC each rebooting once or twice in the same span.
-Long term planning and working ahead for titles like Bloodshot Reborn & Ninjak after seeing the failures of Shadowman & Eternal Warrior due to seemingly 'playing it by ear'.
-Valiant Vanquished RPG show on twitch/youtube. Great fun and exposure to the universe!

My low points follow most others I've seen already here:
-Dead Drop (Worst mistake VEI has made yet IMHO).
-Potato car & floating jet plane, along with the rest of Ming Doyle's art from that 2nd arc of Q&W.
-Still too many rebooted series for my tastes, but not so many or so pointless as to drive me away. Well reasoned at least.
-Wishing we could have seen Dysart's version of Peter's redemption story.

Here's looking forward to the next 5 years, and to that future '10 years!' thread where we can talk about what we've liked or disliked with Valiant's movies, TV shows, and their rising prominence in the comics world!

I only came into new Valiant a year ago and was unaware at the time of the GEOMANCER series. Looking at aftermarket prices now --- yeesh! I wish I could get them all for $25 or even $30. #2 and #3 can be had for around $10 each, but #1 and #4 are in the $25+ range each. I would practically kill to get this series now. I think that's the biggest fault of an offer like this, it doesn't factor in future fans who come in after the fact.

If anyone has any ideas of a place to pick these up for a decent price I would love to know.

Exclusive comic content is something that should be available, worldwide.

The book is actually good, not awesome, but a solid read. Worth the trouble? Depends on your POV. I like the fact that I have them, but feel bad for fans who will never see it, honest.
I thoroughly enjoyed the story and JJ Ryp is one of my favorite artists. -- I ordered the Legends issues from 3 different places (US, UK, Germany) for a combined 55 Euros incl. P&P. That was back in 2015 after all four had already been released. It was still cheaper to get them from 3 different sources than all from 1. I did combine the orders with a few other books hence splitting the cost of P&P between them. Otherwise the total would have been far more than 55.

Not making it accessible to everybody is a no go for original content like that (the Anni-Paddas' origin story). Perhaps they should reconsider by now - print and digital trade for $9.99 and a deluxe hardcover for $19.99. This may offend some of the people who paid lots of money to get the floppies but I guess the majority would be in favor of collecting it. I wouldn't mind at all.
ShadowTuga wrote:Same for these Special Editions for X-O Manowar, and the Rai and Doc Mirage Plus editions, though the latter were easier to get here.
The Plus Editions were like regular comics or regular variants. I had no problem ordering them (in advance).

What are the "Special Editions for X-O Manowar"? The pre-order bundles? I have no problem ordering and getting these either. It actually works!

The social aspect that the Valiant Fans board brings to our hobby has got to be worth its weight in gold hasn't it?

I'm looking forward to next summer now - I want to see if Magnusr and Draco are up for meeting up with us at London Super Comic Con this year or next year. I think that'll be a little more chilled than Comic Con, which I hear is *SQUEE* MANIC these days...?

Hey Shadowtuga, fancy a weekend in England with us at the con? :high-five:

I'll drink to that!

Man, we should figure out when the Valiant After Dark OTV will be recorded that year (because you guys will still be doing it in five years, right Doc/Elveen/Chiclo?) and make an "all board pilgrimage" to witness it live.
Good Morning, that's a nice tnetennba.

Some more points:

Yay!!!!
- The social aspect of being a Valiant fan, meaning I got to meet lots of cool people, and some of them had a lasting impact in my life (you can check my "Rockin Out with VEI" thread for proof :P ); I am very thankful for my Valiant buddies that I met here, they are the best. :high-five:
- Designing the Magic: The Valiant set was fun as I did not had in years and seeing it in real life, thanks to Phantom (thanks for the shout out btw, bud :D ), was just amazing to me;
- There's no other comics' company who has cooler staff; These guys and gals are quality peeps. And they really like us, fans. Seriously, these people know what we like and don't like, they are no Marvel in that aspect. That's why the diversity in VEI comics is so obvious it is not worth mentioning it, almost. Valiant is diverse, duh!
- Shadowman and Ninjak Minimates. I just love these lil' dudes.

Nay!!!
- like someone pointed, lack of consistent art. Rai and Divinity have this identity, given by art. We think of Rai, we think of Crain.
- the original series of the Summer of Valiant all ending. Specially X-O. I wanted X-O to go on and on and on. But hey, market... :!:

Times like when The Fall of Bloodshot, Unity #10 or Savage #1 came out make me glad I'm alive, walking around, and still reading monthly comics. Any Wednesday can turn into a bright spring day. Cheers to team VEI.
