Stupid question about bloodshot and rai

Post by Phantom »

In the new valiant universe is their any connection between bloodshot and rai?

If their is, and I missed it, apologies for ignorance.
Was sorting my collection and cannot recall anything specific.
I wish their was a Spinal Tap comic, and I had a copy CGC graded at 11.

No, there's no connection between them. In fact, between PRS being very clearly an American organization and Rai's redesign following his defection from Father, the two are more different than they've ever been.

Not that that stops articles from still referring to "The Blood of Heroes" regarding Bloodshot, as if that's still a thing.

There's more to it than that.

Harada captured Bloodshot and took the nanites.

The two sets of nanites (Bloodshot and Harada's experiments, presumably) have been continuing separately since that time, with the emergence of Sunlight on Snow as the likely result of Bloodshot's nanites gaining sentience in one of Harada's autonomous medical robots. Kay's control over the programming in Deathmate is another line of nanites.

Any of these four "nanite bloodlines" could lead directly to Father and Rai, or be one of the many "branches" of a line to the year 4001+.

Those other nanite-beings (Von-New-Man) in Ivar (#7) from the year 5480 are also potentially connected back to Bloodshot/Harada, even if they have nothing to do with Rai.

I'll add the inevitable emergence of Rampage to that list of other nanite-beings.

True, though I'll note the connection's very implicit. VH1 made it very clear that Rai was supposed to be inspired by Bloodshot, and it was further pushed when Future Force Rai actually gave himself the Blood of Heroes and thus the Bloodshot nanites.

Also note that 4001 Bloodshot is essentially the collective Bloodshot nanites reactivated and left to wonder. So whatever nanite stuff Rai has/had would most likely be one of the aformentioned branches/offshoots.

That's a good point. :thumb:

Even more interesting is that Rai was in Magnus #5 prior to any other Valiant universe character's creation. So, while we think of Rai as the future of Bloodshot, the Valiant universe actually had Rai doing amazing network/reassemble actions in the nerveweb before we had the nanites, Bloodshot, or even the classics like Harbinger and X-O Manowar.
