Re: Key Valiant Entertainment Issues
Hmm, really? A blonde, unshaven woman is supposed to represent a woman with a shaved head that is possibly a mixed race? Someone, somewhere must have attempted to connect the two, I just don't see it. Maybe there is more here that I just don't know...
Also, doesn't the book of death happen before Father takes New Japan up into orbit? The Eternal Warrior is depicted as an old man in 4001, yet a young man in Book of Death. Is War Mother supposed to be eternal as well, yet not age a single bit?
I imagine smarter, more knowing people have drawn this conclusion. Can you possibly shed more light on this? I just don't see how this could be her first appearance.

I still don't see it. I know, I know... even Dinesh has pointed out that she is Warmother, but I still think it's the woman over Bloodshot's right shoulder.DirtbagSailor wrote:Here for you!TheeBaldMoose wrote:I have heard rumor regarding this, but I can not find War Mother anywhere in the book. Good questions. The timeline for BoD events was murky to me when it came out. A year on, murkier still.TheeBaldMoose wrote:Hmm, really? Re: Key Valiant Entertainment Issues
The character that we now know as War Mother we re-designed by artist Andreas Guinaldo earlier this year in preparation for 4001 A.D. War Mother #1. It is likely that VEI had a loose concept for the character when BoD #1 was created, that was modified further down the road. While not the most perfect 1st appearance of all time (though still a bit more than Jack playing Sax in X-O #4...), it has been confirmed by VEI that it is still the 1st appearance of War Mother.
Here is the War Mother character design and creator notes by artist Andres Guinaldo that I was able to pick up a while back.

Re: Key Valiant Entertainment Issues
I've got to disagree on the 1st appearance of Warmother being BOD #1. Dinesh can say it was her 1st appearance, but that character went through a complete redesign prior to Warmother #1. Warmother #1 is her 1st appearance and I think most people would agree. This makes me think of Psylocke/Betsy Braddock.

Its nice to see 2 VEI characters, Roku and Livewire (Livewire for the most part brand new character) have prominent roles in the Ninjak series

Re: Key Valiant Entertainment Issues
I have seen a few that think the web series has some elements of the Ninjak story Siege At King's Castle. I think so, too, with what appears to be a government agency after Colin/Ninjak and what appears to be Roku as the main foil. I would be curious to see if it has any more pieces of the story. Thatvsaid, the story started in issue 14 and there's a cool Kindt cover. I am curious to see any action on that and Roku's origin from issue 4.

Yup! I wish I had more copies of the variant for Harbinger #3 (first VEI Livewire & Faith), but I guess I'll have to be satisfied with my double digit copies of the regular edition.bygranddesign wrote:![]()

I know it's jumping the gun, but Dinesh tweeted out a "First Appearance" the other day for the upcoming Harbinger Renigades. Don't know the characters name, or when the appearance happens. The questions have been thrown at him, with no response

Just noticed I may have dropped the ball by not reviewing the last page or so of this thread and making additions to the top post. My apologies. Anyone have anything new to add? I'll review everything this weekend. Thanks.

Re: Key Valiant Entertainment Issues
Just curious how hard you would go on some of these and where to draw the line on condition? Found a long box full of 20-25 copies of stuff like HW #1-4, early issues of XO, SM, Unity and Rai. However they all have at least a couple few spine ticks and blunted corners. He wants 20% of cover.
What's the play? Are any of these strong enough to ignore the spine or just stick to clean copies regardless of the issue?

I don't really have an opinion on that. Sorry. I don't check this thread often. I keep forgetting it's been moved here.

Re: Key Valiant Entertainment Issues
So, what would be key first appearances for VEI in the last 6months that it would be prudent to acquire? I have not read Ninja-k yet... But surely there are first appearances of the other Ninjas before "K."
Any advise on fairly recent "don't miss" first appearances?... or possible minor first appearances that could be special down the road?

Well, it may be jumping the gun a bit, but I think there may be something in store for the Bounty Hunters in XO Manowar. Something tells me their story is only just beginning.
Could we see more from Ninja-G? Man, I really hope so! Maybe not an ongoing, but a 4 part would be pretty sweet!

True, but my guess is that the original plan for them may have changed. Hesnid, the bounty hunter, is a rearranging of the letters in "Dinesh".TheeBaldMoose wrote:Well, it may be jumping the gun a bit, but I think there may be something in store for the Bounty Hunters in XO Manowar. Re: Key Valiant Entertainment Issues
Shadowman #2 (2012 series) could be interesting as the first VEI Deadside... it only shows Lyceum, but I think that's enough to establish the "not live" side.
Baron Samedi (VEI version) appears briefly in Shadowman #5 (2012 series), more fully in Shadowman #6.
