Valiant High - New Title
Not entirely sure what to make of this:

Valiant High from Valiant Entertainment is a hilarious reimagining of Valiant’s award-winning superhero universe by writer Daniel Kibblesmith (The Late Show with Stephen Colbert), artist Derek Charm (Jughead) with a first issue cover by David Lafuente! Before they became the world’s most formidable heroes, they were roaming the halls at a super-powered preparatory academy where Aric “X-O Manowar” Dacia is a record-setting running back, Colin “Ninjak” King is a debonair foreign exchange student, and Coach Bloodshot is way too into dodgeball! Now… Faith “Zephyr” Herbert is about to discover it all for the first time as the newest girl in school! Issue #1 (of 4) of this digital only exclusive is available for pre-order today on comiXology and Kindle for $3.99.

I wonder what it would be like to be a lonely, muck-encrusted monster? Probably be an improvement.

Re: Valiant High - New Title
Could be another avenue to get people to check out Valiant.
I've already seen NY Times and Entertainment Weekly tweeting about it.
Looks fun and I'm down to check it out.

That's funny, but the Simpsons actually referenced Valiant first.Beware Cyclops wrote:nonplayer wrote:Sign me up for the bloodcoach one shot.

Re: Valiant High - New Title
I don't want to sound curmudgeonly, but even if this was to be a printed comic, I'd be passing on it (and that would be a first time passing on any printed VEI comic).
Hope it does well for them & brings in some new fans though!

It's a four part series, and it brings attention to Valiant, it can only be a good thing. I might take a peek at it, just to see.

Sounds like fun! Not interested in digital comics at all, but when this goes print I'll check it out.

If it's being released only on digital straight out the gate then I'm not sure it'll be released in print at all, just my feelings on it.Tim wrote:Sounds like fun! Not interested in digital comics at all, but when this goes print I'll check it out.
Not sure how to interpret this one. 'Digital only' in one sense suggests to me that VEI don't have the confidence that the project is really strong enough to stand up for what it's worth in printed format, but on the other hand this is clearly just a 'fun' project, so maybe that's simply a way of differentiating it from the main VEI product

Don't really use comixology, but might give the first issue a look to see what it's like. Not that excited about it honestly, but if it's genuinely funny then it might win me over.

I find it funny, but no way I'm paying for this.
Hope it does what VEI wants it to do, i.e. bring new readers.

Re: Valiant High - New Title
It's part of a push from comixology to have some exclusive digital content unavailable elsewhere, so I don't think we'll see it in print. Sounds like a smart plan for Valiant to be involved in that promotion, not a lack of confidence in the material.Shadowman99 wrote:If it's being released only on digital straight out the gate then I'm not sure it'll be released in print at all, just my feelings on it.Tim wrote:Sounds like fun! Greg what episode of the Simpson is that in?
Looks like Harada will be the principle or some how in it.
These should be released to us foggies like the adventures of a&a bootleg
I Miss the good old days.

Re: Valiant High - New Title
After seeing the attempts at 'humour' in the milestone books (eg Bloodshot 25), I'll give this a swerve!
That said, it was appreciated that they didn't put any goofy stories in XO #50. At least with this digital offering you know what to expect up front so if comedy isn't your thing then you don't have to buy it.
