WOW!

So, XO has ended, Eternal Warrior has ended, Bloodshot probably will end....

what do they have planned? Think it has something to do with Divinity III?

that's a shame, the first arc didn't impress me but I was really enjoying it after Labyrinth. I was optimistic that making it past issue 12 would have ensured it ran at least until 18 or 25.

and Ninjak is probably close to ending at #25...
I wonder if the new adventures of Archer & Armstrong will go past #12...

the following month they should have something to fill in the slot now that Brittania is over, and the month after that there will be an open slot following Bloodshot USA (a new Bloodshot series?)

New comics are losing my interest in general. Revival ending. Invincible ending. Chew ennding. Manhattan Projects on indefinite hiatus. Marvel and Valiant are stuck on this endless reboot/renumber/retell/reinvigorate cycle.

I've been reading Claremont X-Men from the beginning. Having way more fun with that than with any new comics (East of West and Chew excluded).

The one thing that makes this feel a little better is VDitti's comment that it was the complete story he wanted to tell. That's reassuring.

I'm going to shift my focus on comics to catching up on stellar books that finish their stories. VEI has actually done a pretty good job of this actually.

Maybe they should take a good, hard look at how well that is working for Marvel.

Disappointing news as I thought VDitti was doing a great job in this character and has added so many more layers to Eternal Warrior. I bet VDitti has a ton more great stories to tell with this character.

Hope the new books to come are significantly better than the recent efforts (Gen Zero, A&A, Faith) as this shift in direction to get new readers met lose existing readers.

Hope they let VDitti loose on something new soon! :hope:

Honestly, I can't figure out why anyone is surprised. Wrath was doing pretty awful numbers, even compared to Valiant's normal fair, so this was inevitable. The fact that V-Ditti sees it as a complete story makes me very happy.

The only thing I'm really nervous about ending is Bloodshot Reborn. I think it's safe to say that Ninjak will probably end at 25, but I would really like to see Bloodshot continue on to #50. Valiant has got to realize that they can't keep long-term fans unless they have a steady stable of ongoings gracing the shelves every month.

I'm getting tired of updating my pull list.

I ONLY get valiant books. That should be 9 or 10 books a month. But I have to update my pull list more often than anyone...

Totally agree with the first point here, and that in turn is why I also agree with the second point.

I think they have done a really good job in general of making their re-named, ongoing, core character books legitimately earn their title add-ons, as the themes of each volume actually fits with the titles. I can appreciate that as a bridge between the traditional storytelling style of ongoing, endlessly continuous super-hero universe lines & the end-point style of other creator-owned comics that sit outside the superhero genre.

Still kinda sucks to have so many low-numbered editions of all the Valiant books though.

I'm sorry, but unsurprised, to read this news after seeing that Houser, Roberts and Van Lente are the only writers thus far announced as participants in VEI's NYCC panels. Another great, under-appreciated series bites the dust too quickly, and I suspect that, down the road, Wrath will be counted among comicdom's finer titles in that regard.

It's the not knowing that I like. I like new stuff with the pillars weaving in and out and back into the universe.

This is why I like Astro City so much. And in a way, the Valiant universe is kinda like AC. But instead of one title and three issue arc, it's nine titles and 12 issue arcs.

To be fair Dunlow Valiant didn't reboot bloodshot. Only the name gave it that feel. To me the whole thing blends well together

I hope Ninjak goes past 25 and that BS renumbers to Bloodshot #1 (I mean, he's 'reborn' now right?) and gets published the month after BS USA #4.

Unfortunately I don't see either happening - which means I'll be out on Valiant

I'm ok with this as long as they keep Vditti in the fold. Same with the other titles that are ending. As long as Lemire, Kindt, and Dysart (eventually) continue to help build the universe I am still optimistic. Although I also wish they could sustain 12 titles each month...

I have no real problems with this, since it was the writer's choice and he felt that he was done with this character. I applaud that, for creative/artistic reasons.

But VEI, between you and me:
you are giving me a hard time. No Dysart or Venditti books for the foreseable future? No EW?
I LOVE complete stories, most of my life as a comic book reader I was a passive reader (not current, just reading collected comics) BUT I came here to enter a new ONGOING universe. I understand what VEI is doing with their renumbering (sales, of course), but this is the Marvel way- RENUMBER after a lil' while. I HATE, HATE that. Bad taste in my mouth. Geez, the next EW series will have a 3rd 1st issue for this character's solo adventures. THAT is confusing for new and some more distracted readers. :?

Hope we'll see RV sooner than later. All the luck for the gentleman and huge applause round. Thank You, Sir!!!!!

I hate that Marvel does this so regularly now. There's no way I could get back into Marvel at this point, because if I wanted to catch up on anything I've missed it's nearly impossible to tell if I'm buying back issues from the same series anymore, especially with so many variant covers these days. I can still tell Valiant books apart only because I follow them all, but to an outsider it must be starting to look messy.

It would be great if there was enough sales support to allow more Valiant books to at least reach 50 like XO did before they get stopped. I'm not against re-numbering quite as much as I used to be, but when it gets really frequent it does irritate me a lot.

I totally understand that ultimately it's the sales that steer the marketing to re-number & that the modern era is just that much different than days gone by, with overall readership a pale shadow of decades past, but still - I think this current era is doing harm to the hobby in the long run. As I said before, I think some companies are far worse than others, and Valiant is one of the best - but take this small experience as an example;

I've recently decided to get back into IDW's transformers line (I'm a huge fan going back to the original cartoon, and with this being the 30th anniversary of the animated movie, I'm craving some new good transformers material to read). I haven't touched one of their TF comics in several years, because at one point they had a continuous overall storyline that was hopping around between too many one-shots & mini-series. I totally lost track of what to pick up & gave up on it.

But now, I go to look into a spot to dive into them again, and I see they have two current series that are both numbered into the 50+ range. That's a really appealing point to begin with for me - I got volume 1 of each title to check them out. If I like it, I'm kind of excited to know that there is a really big chunk of new continuos books to dive into after.

Granted, Transformers is probably a much more wide-spread popular IP than the Valiant stuff in general & it can probably maintain pretty solid numbers (said with no idea of the print runs), but still. Wish we could see more of that here.

I too, have switched over to Transformers. Till All Are One is the new ongoing and its a very character driven read - haven't read anything like it before in a FT comic - I'd give that one a shot (only up to #4 as of today) too :thumb: plus you KNOW you're getting a new TF comic each month, we don't have that same stability with the slate of Valiant comics (ending generally before #25).

The renumbering (and price disparity) has recently led me away from buying single issues to buying deluxe hardcovers (and maybe trades moving forward). Once you make that switch, the renumbering thing doesn't seem that important anymore.
