Re: Don Perlin
I spoke with Don on a few occasions and he is very reluctant to interact with me.
Anyway- he agreed to 30 signed bookmarks, I intend to send him 50 of Bloodshot #7.
Is there any interest among you guys for this or should I just warehouse or scrap it?

Re: Don Perlin
One thought I had was to somehow tie Sal Velluto into this project (with the Bloodshot link).
Sal has fundraisers etc. going on and I think we can contribute something to him. And maybe Don Perlin???
Sal has cancer and Don has had a few brain operations... I think we can contribute to this cause.
So what are the options?

Why is there so little a reply??? Do I have to dress up the offer or do you guys not care about Don Perlin and Sal Velluto?

Re: Don Perlin
That would be super cool!
I always wanted a commission from Don Perlin Ghost Rider Moon Knight, guess it is to late for that ~ if he is reluctant to sign, I doubt I he would be up for commission art request.
I don't have any spare Bloodshot 7, that are not part of a full run. Would break a set for a signed comic!
Thanks for thinking of us, maybe change the thread title to get more interest.

I wish their was a Spinal Tap comic, and I had a copy CGC graded at 11.

Re: Don Perlin
My idea is we contract Perlin and Velluto to 5 X 7 pencil sketches. Then we get Anthony K. to write the story.
Then print 500 copies. Then put them into a safe, dry place until VEI collapses.
Then send the copies out.
The story is VH1 Bloodshot vs VH2 Bloodshot to the death. There will be 500 copies made. They will all go into a vault until VEI is abandoned.

Re: Don Perlin
Why you gotta be hoping for the end of VEI??
IMO, you are way off base with this.
I will not support anything that is hoping or waiting for VEI to end.
And no one else should either.
I want Valiant comics to continue FOREVER.

I got no problem with fan projects and all that.
But let's build up , not be openly planning for the end of VEI.

I would be down for a Bloodshot vs Bloodshot sketch, but not anything anti VEI. I'm honestly not sure if Sal is up to it with his condition, but if so would love to support him.

I know who you are, but people could still just want to be left alone.
And, for the record, "you must have no idea who I am" comes off as an incredibly pompous, arrogant thing to say, whether it was intended that way or not.
(Correction - I think I know who you are)

I meant "I am the guy that gets stuff done" like I did for Shooter.
Artists live off of acclaim and they need to be reminded once in a while that they're still relevant. Like Shooter and the 50th award.
I am a New Yorker so I don't mind getting in peoples' faces but I am a Valiant fan which means I have goals.
Just sayin'

I'm all for giving guys love and respect, but I am 100% against wanting the downfall of the dudes that brought the characters back that we all love.
I don't understand that.
If you hate VEI , cool, that's you. You want them to go away so you can do some fan project, whatever.
But don't expect me (for one) to say, "cool", yeah. Bye bye VEI lets get to the fan project.
I'm sure there is a way to give acclaim without tearing down what VEI has been building.
Total ugh bro!

Why would we give Acclaim comics to anyone? That just seems cruel...Elveen wrote:There are lots of guys that get things done on these boards bro.Knob Row wrote:I meant "I am the guy that gets stuff done" like I did for Shooter.

Re: Don Perlin
We need to start a Joe Petrilak Project to drag him into the current century and get him on board with the VEI stuff.
Joe, why not check with Dino and see if you can set up a few hours of Old Timers Day at the Valiant booth at NYCC? Or perhaps at the end of their Panel, with a signing table at the back of the room or something? That would be cool. A little melding of the old and the new...
Some of these guys know Dino pretty well, perhaps they could float the idea to Dino on your behalf and set up a PM introduction if he seems agreeable to the idea.

Yes JMatt- you're right. I should stop trying to take over the world.
But there are Valiant Old-Timers and they deserve their moment in the sun too.
As far as VEI- I stopped caring about Valiant with "MOTA" where we get to see Phil again... Phil's my guy,

Re: Don Perlin
To all here: Joe seems really cool and to be a massive Valiant fan, I don't know him or anything and he has been around long before my time here (My join date on here was just to look at a post in the registered members only forum long ago and then I wasn't back until VEI was already publishing). I saw threads where he was giving away tons of stuff to people and what jmatt has written about him he seems a great guy. Also, he is close with Jim *SQUEE* Shooter. That right there is enough for me to like this guy.
Joe: I totally get your enthusiasm for OG valiant, that is what kept me reading comics as a kid when Marvel and DC were churning out garbage. The creators at the time did amazing things that kept me interested in them until now. I am a big fan of what VEI is doing too, Dino and the new company are doing a great job and I would not want to be a part of anything that would upset them or infringe on anything they don't want. I read in another thread that its not cool to do prints or comics of characters VEI owns and stuff unless they authorize it. For that reason I would be out on something like that. I would never hope for the end of VEI, that would be the end of my pull list and reading comics for me on a regular basis and the end of characters that I have loved. There is a possibility I will cry tears of joy watching the first Bloodshot movie Even though I am often way behind on reading (and even further on reviewing them ), I know I will soon be able to jump back in and read for hours and just love them. The new creators are doing a great job on the books.
For any project that doesn't cause issues with them, or even just to donate some coin to someone in need of it, I will be there. (As long as I see the thread ) Feel free to pm me anytime if you have something on the go and are looking for participants, or help or just ideas. It will goto my email and I'll check it for sure. I doubt I'll be able to afford a big amount, but I will always try to contribute.
I have been purposely staying away from this board (and other sites) due to just trying to spend less time attached to technology but I am always ready to help, even in a small way if the need is there.
