If anyone who pre-registered still wants tickets, single-days remain available for 3 of the 4 days. I got passes for the exact dates I wanted about a half hour ago
...which surprised the heck out of me. :insane:

We had three people on this today, all of us managed to score four Saturday tickets. I may have a few extras available since it now seems we won't need twelve after all.

Ken, you need?

Would flying out to go on Thursday only be worth it? When is the Valiant office tour normally?

If my memory is any good at the moment:

2015 it was Sunday.
2014 it was Saturday.
2013, I believe it was Saturday, not sure.
2012, i have no idea which day.

If I'm coming into LaGuardia Wednesday night, where's a good place to try to stay? Is it worth the hassle to go to NJ and save some $$?

I commute between Brooklyn and Jersey City &/or Newark at least once a week for work. If you stay in Jersey City, it'd be an easy commute over to the Javits Center, but check the prices first because you might not save much money. I wouldn't stay in Newark or Elizabeth because you're not really in the thick of things and it's not as easy to get to Manhattan as it is from JC, but that's me. Others may advise otherwise.

Overall, I'd say bite the bullet and camp out somewhere in the Big Apple. It's usually worth it. Also, you might want to take a look at airbnb short-term rental apartments in Manhattan (near the Javits or on the train lines to it) rather than hotels. My wife & I have stayed at airbnb places in Italy and France in recent years and really enjoyed ourselves while saving a lot of travel money (I have no financial interest in mentioning that company, btw).

It's been forever since I've checked this thread. Apologies for not responding sooner. Assuming you're still looking for accommodations on the cheap, and you're coming into and leaving from Laguardia, your best bet might be to look in Queens (where Laguardia is) somewhere near the 7 subway line (since that's the line with the subway station at the convention center).

A quick look on a price comparison site suggests this might be the best option for convenience and price (although the review results weren't particularly great):

If you're not a *SQUEE*, you're okay with me.

This. I can't imagine traveling all the way to Jersey would save you much money and it would make getting to the Javitz Center more of a hassle.

Yep, there's a big cluster of hotels in Long Island City, Queens, near the 7 train (and a few other subway lines) with rooms at varying prices, and there're some decent bars and restaurants in the neighborhood if you don't want to get everything in Manhattan.

BTW, I just checked the new Holiday Inn in downtown Brooklyn (A & C-line station right across the street) and the prices for the NYCC dates are almost $300 a friggin' night.

Thanks for all the advice. I decided against NYCC this year, but I'm sure this info will be helpful in the future.

One option would be to get a cab to Woodside Station and head east on the LIRR out to Woodbury. There's a Days Inn there for $128/night.

Then just take the LIRR straight in to Penn Station and then a cab to Javitz. Skip the subway altogether. You could even walk to Javitz from Penn, it's like half a mile as the crow flies.

I will gladly exchange a NYCC Valiant variant for a RCC Valiant Variant. I do know RCCC will be a Generation Zero #1 variant.

PM me if this works for you.

Yeah, they can be pricey. That's why I pointed out the one in Queens, which was closer to $200. There's another hotel near there called the Paper Factory which is really cool (I've been there a couple times for drinks), but that's also $200+ (http://www.paperfactoryhotel.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;)
