NYCC 2016
I know there's a section for cons, but since NYCC is Valiant's hometown con, this is time-sensitive info, and probably not everyone goes to the con section, I figured I'd post this here.
This year NYCC is requiring fan verification prior to the tickets going to sale. (Presumably to try to cut down on scalping.) It's open now and is running for a few weeks. Sometime after that they're giving 48 hours notice for when the tickets are actually going on sale. So anyone planning on going should visit the link below and fill out a profile, because even if someone else is picking up your ticket, your name still needs to be attached to a profile.. If anyone is interested, I'd be willing to try to coordinate in case one of us is not available to be online on the day that tickets go on sale, so double our chances of getting tickets.

Re: NYCC 2016
Just want to bump this up, since registration closes tomorrow. If you're planning on going to NYCC, or even if you thinks there's a small possibility that you might want to go, register by tomorrow or you won't be able to buy a ticket once they go on sale.
If you're not a *SQUEE*, you're okay with me.

Re: NYCC 2016
I got an email today saying that tickets were going on sale on Wednesday. I don't anticipate needing to buy as many tickets as the max allows for, so if anyone else is in the same boat, maybe we can both look for tix to increase our chances of getting them when they go on sale

Re: NYCC 2016
I received that email as well. I thought tickets were going to be tied to individual registrants though, not general admission, making it impossible to transfer or sell them. That was the point of having each attendee register, no?kjjohanson wrote:I got an email today saying that tickets were going on sale on Wednesday. Remember: Each Ticket must be tied to a person who filled out a Fan Verification profile and they can only be assigned to one Ticket per day. You MUST assign each Ticket to an individual person who filled out a Fan Verification profile starting Thursday, June 30 at 12:00 PM EDT. This must be completed by July 14 at 11:59 PM EDT or your Tickets will be removed from your order and you’ll be refunded.
Whatever doesn't get assigned gets

* cancelled and refunded.

Re: NYCC 2016
This is insane. I am trying to bring a group of twelve friends and family members. But you don't get to pick which day your tickets are for. Myself, my wife and my daughter will each try to purchase 4 tix on Wednesday. What if we get four for Fri, four for Sat and four for Sun?

Blah.
NJ comic expo, Garden state comic fest and winter con are better cons in the greater NYC area for 'people would buy comics'.
NYCC has become a place where people (who don't collect or read comics) bring their kids in their halloween costumes to walk around. I know many New Yorkers that never read comics but go to this con. They ask me, "why aren't you going to NYCC?"...and i reply "because you're there."
Alot of dealers i talk to are losing interest in this con.
Maybe I'm just getting to old for this.....

From what I read you'll know what your buying, you just might not be able to buy what you want.jmatt wrote:This is insane. I am trying to bring a group of twelve friends and family members. Re: NYCC 2016
So if my buddy has an extra ticket and wants to sell/give it to me, he can't? That is crazy- so I am guessing Midtown won't have on site sales either? I'm not sure what that accomplishes.

Re: NYCC 2016
If you've registered, then your buddy would be able to assign you a ticket. This is their way of trying to get around scalping, I'm sure, but I imagine what you'll find is that scalpers created profiles for fictional people, assigned the tickets to those people, and will then sell those tickets off to strangers. You can't possibly check IDs for everyone entering the convention.Trenton Sy wrote:So if my buddy has an extra ticket and wants to sell/give it to me, he can't? And no, no on-site sales anywhere this year

Correct, my scenario was less than clear. But I'm still in a bind if we all can't get the same day.jeremycoe wrote:From what I read you'll know what your buying, you just might not be able to buy what you want.jmatt wrote:This is insane. Over a 1 1/2 is better?

Re: NYCC 2016
Well after 1 hour 47 minutes (and so much frustration!) I bought tickets for each day Thursday -Sunday! First time to NY so I am super excited!
