CGC just handed CBCS a lot of business.... What a bad time for a misstep.

If I was CBCS I'll be pulling out all the stops. Now is the time for action. I'd be doing whatever I could to get business. Buy 2 get one 1/2 whatever. "lose money" now and make a ton down the road.

Yup. CBCS started a promo 2 weeks ago. 20% off for new CGC holder crossover. Note that it's a RE-GRADE so you can potentially get a different grade than the original CGC grade.Elveen wrote:If I was CBCS I'll be pulling out all the stops. Now is the time for action. Re: CGC seems to be having very serious issues...
I emailed cgc and gave them serious crap told them I wanted m money back and that cbcs was going to re grade them in proper cases. Cgc requested previous pictures of my graded books and new pictures showing the wave. Which is really hard to get a picture that represents it. The newton rings show where the pressure is and it used to just be on the edges. not anymore. 1.25" pressure on The right going to the top. and. 5 " on the left going half way up then it skips to the edge bypassing an inch. Waves on the bottom waves on the top grab a stick of juicey fruit this waves going to get ya.
I'm probably going to have to pull my comic out of there.

I'm going to have to pull out all my new books. The thicker DKIII variants I have look fine, but perhaps thinner books might not fare as well. The thing is, I have to pour through many boxes that are impossible to get to. GRRRRR.

CGC has offered me to mail in the warping books and have them re encapsulated and mailed back they said they would send me a rebate for the shipping.
They said we have figured out a way to use the plastic so the wave doesn't happen. I'd assume spots of glue to hold it in place. Which I'm fine with.
What do you guys thing should I go for it or just demand my money back. At a loss because I went through a lcbs

If what you want is slabbed books, I'd just send them back in. If they've figured out how to solve the problem then you should be good.

Wow, the thread on the CGC board talking about the new cases and documenting the waves/Newton rings got deleted. I thought the thread was civilized overall given the expected dissatisfaction.

Wow, I have only been following this issue from the threads on here, but that seems to me like a huge slap in the face to their customers.iggy101us wrote:Wow, the thread on the CGC board talking about the new cases and documenting the waves/Newton rings got deleted. Where are we going and why am I in this hand-basket?

Re: CGC seems to be having very serious issues...
Wouldn't it be completely awful if CGC graded a book at 9.8; then that book was damaged by their new holder, and when re-slabbing later on CGC notes the flaws and re-grades to accurately reflect the condition resulting in a new grade below 9.8...

I would be furious if it was me (have never sent anything in to get slabbed before though and will certainly not be in the near future)DirtbagSailor wrote:Wouldn't it be completely awful if CGC graded a book at 9.8; then that book was damaged by their new holder, and when re-slabbing later on CGC notes the flaws and re-grades to accurately reflect the condition resulting in a new grade below 9.8...

There is an Action Comics #1 graded in the new case that is going to be coming up for sale on one of the large auction houses. I bet the owner is tight about any potential waviness that may appear.....
