Glad they are keeping Marguerite Sauvage around. It would be nice if they give her a whole issue every so often.

I think we all have a little bit of a crush on Faith, or at least some underdog feelings for the unlikely hero. She's the most Peter Parker, in my view, of the Valiant universe.

Nice to hear, great character.
But I can't help but feel like, the same hype, should of turned Divinity, into an ongoing as well.

I'm assuming, StalinVerse, which will most likely, be a mini. But I do believe, Divinity will get an ongoing at some point.dornwolf wrote:Give it some time. Re: Faith is getting an Ongoing Series
I think Divinity is going to take some time to develop whereas Faith is very easy for someone new to comics to jump in and read. I love Matt's work, but he can be a little tricky to get into for someone new to Valiant because he lays down so many sub-plots and details into each issue. It's very rewarding to read his books, but it does take some effort. I can't wait to see what Divinity II has in store for us!

Stalinverse sounds a lot like a good name for an ongoing Divinity title to me...agent_graves wrote:I'm assuming, StalinVerse, which will most likely, be a mini. Good news, more ongoings please. Next up Divinity?
Does this news anyway change the Harbinger returning tease showing the Renegades from last year?

Re: Faith is getting an Ongoing Series
Reposting my comment from the Gold thread:
Ugh.
I've only read the first two so far, but it's just such a generic cookie cutter comic book that I was looking forward to something else replacing it on the monthly publishing list.
New addition:
I absolutely can not tell the covers apart from one issue of this series to the next. I thought the new #1 cover image was the old #1. Just like the stories, the covers and generically cookie cutter and indistinguishable.

Re: Faith is getting an Ongoing Series
Love how this thread damn near turned into a 'Divinity' thread
On that note, I kind of consider as an 'ongoing' franchise currently, at least until Divinity III has finished, although it's obviously not an 'ongoing title'. I'll be more interested to see what happens to the Divinity franchise once the third cosmonaught has been introduced.
As for Faith, well, hate to say it nycjadie, but not everyone has a crush on Faith. I've *never* really been that interested in the character, from the start.
From what I've read of it so far it seems like a fairly generic superhero kind of affair, a kind of 'Superman' clone in a way (even as far as the wigged, cardigan-ed dayjob alter-ego is concerned!), which has entertained me moderately in comparison to VEI's other books, so I'll probably just buy it as a light read to break things up between heavier books like Rai/4001 and Bloodshot.

Re: Faith is getting an Ongoing Series
I see the 'Superman clone' thing as part of the story. Not that the writers are copying Superman, but that FAITH (who is a huge nerd and comic book collector) is purposely trying to live out exactly that trope in her 'real life'. That was a part of the best scene in issue #3 for me. The bad guys come to her workplace and threaten people. Superman would have found a way to sneak away and keep his secret identity intact. Faith realizes she doesn't have the powers, abilities, or luck to pull this off and just makes the decision that other peoples lives are more important than keeping her secret to make her life easier! This is why she is such a hero at heart and this is what I love about the character. She's trying to live the 'dream' of being a working class citizen with a crime-fighting secret identity in her off hours. And she finds out that it doesn't work well in the 'real' world.Shadowman99 wrote:From what I've read of it so far it seems like a fairly generic superhero kind of affair, a kind of 'Superman' clone in a way (even as far as the wigged, cardigan-ed dayjob alter-ego is concerned!), which has entertained me moderately in comparison to VEI's other books, so I'll probably just buy it as a light read to break things up between heavier books like Rai/4001 and Bloodshot.

I don't disagree, I don't think for a moment that the writers are so strapped for ideas creatively that they're blatently ripping off Superman!Phoenix8008 wrote:I see the 'Superman clone' thing as part of the story. Re: Faith is getting an Ongoing Series
This is great news! I read all of the Valiant line and Faith is not my favorite character but I am pumped about this news.
I realize that this is not as exciting as Ninjak or the artwork is not the same as Bloodshot Reborn or as intriguing as Imperium, a few of my favorites, but I have a daughter that is seven years old and our bedtime stories consist of My Little Pony and Barbie comics. She doesn't get into superhero characters, yet.
One night I was talking to her about Faith and after telling her about the character I took a chance and asked her if she would like for me to read Faith #1 to her. She said yes, I think even she was tired of what we had been reading. So, we read Faith that night and she loved it! It was nice to finally read about a character that I actually liked to read about instead of the other crap. The next night she came up to me and asked "Dad, can we read about Faith again tonight?" Of course, and we did. Unfortunately I only had issues one and two so she was disappointed the next night when we couldn't read the next issue, but I had good news for her because the third issue was due out that week. We were unable to go to the LCS until Sunday but she asked me each day that week if we could go to the store and buy issue three. There was never this kind of want for her to go buy any of the other titles we have read together. That Sunday we went to our LCS, bought the book and read it that night. She is really getting into this story, we may have a new Valiant fan! It was kind of a bummer, though when I told her that there was only one more issue of this title coming out and there are really no other Valiant options (I don't buy many marvel or dc) for us to read together. I haven't told her yet that we will be able to continue to read about Faith together monthly, I'll tell her that after we read issue four.
Like I said earlier, Faith has never been one of my favorite characters, but seeing the interest my daughter has, certainly is helping Faith become one of my favorites. Wouldn't it be amazing if Valiant continued to make the books we all love and also had a few books that were appropriate for a younger audience and help add new readers? Wouldn't it be awesome if we could wake up Saturday morning and watch a Faith cartoon?
We are definitely looking forward to the ongoing! Thank you Dinesh & Valiant!
