The Outcast
So any love for this book now? Are there any future plans for this character?

I hear it's been optioned for a series on Showtime

Re: The Outcast
I felt the series ended a little too soon. So many dangling plot threads like, what is this book about? and what's it doing with a Valiant logo?

It would be a cheap maneuver, but putting out an "Outcast" mini at the time the Kirkman show premiers might help move some booksjeremycoe wrote:I hear it's been optioned for a series on Showtime

Re: The Outcast
So I got a few of these and read one (it had been a while). Pretty forgettable story that felt like it was leading somewhere and then ... nothing. Oh, Acclaim.
Cool art by Breyfogle, though.

Re: The Outcast
I was listening to V-ditti interview on OTV and he confirmed the big dude in BoD (upper left / page 6 of the braithwaite section -- looking creepily at ninjak and livewire makeout) is indeed Outcast.depluto wrote:So I got a few of these and read one (it had been a while). So yeah .. good idea to pick up a few copies of the acclaim comic on the cheap now
You got it off Ebay?

Re: The Outcast
Although that seems to be VEI selling them. Maybe they wouldn't do that if they had big plans for the character.

But I wouldn't be surprised if they have a box full of this comic
So maybe they test the market and sell a few now ... knowing they have more where that came from to sell later if they do decide to make a big splash with the character
The fact that he has a panel to himself in BoD ..and they mention him by name -- probably means they have something big planned for the character down the line. Also they made a point of challenging Kirkman ..so they do value the IP.

Based on what I read at the Valiant Database, was Outcast basically Hulk with an alien twist?BugsySig wrote:I'd say 8ft, 700lbsLady Oiorpata wrote:What was he about?

Re: The Outcast
Those copies are in poor condition, listed as 3.0s. I also don't think that's really Valiant Entertainment. The logo and location don't fit, and neither does the stock, being old.bygranddesign wrote:Yeah I noticed that.depluto wrote:Although that seems to be VEI selling them. Retaining a registered trademark requires using it in commerce.
The circle-R is there in the title of the auction, and each sale is commerce.

Re: The Outcast
I thought that the character had decent potential if rebooted into the current Valiant Universe, so I'm glad that VEI agrees. It'll be interesting to see what role the character plays.

It could be in a crossover with Plasmer.

Re: The Outcast
I doubt that selling used comic books would be sufficient in that regard.greg wrote:Retaining a registered trademark requires using it in commerce.

They're protecting the trademark.
It should be noted that the book is available on Comixology, which I imagine should be sufficient for trademark retention without having to f*** about with back issue sales.

Re: The Outcast
Agree. In their recent trademark filings, they just put a copy of the 1990's printed books in there. Still not clear that its actually VEI and not another entity. Can't tell.kjjohanson wrote:I doubt that selling used comic books would be sufficient in that regard.greg wrote:Retaining a registered trademark requires using it in commerce.
