That's exactly what I asked when I found out he was drawing them.
Initially Joe was supposed to pencil and ink them U2K style. After
some time and a few mix ups (loooong story) Joe had Jim pencil
'em while he did the inks.
A quick yahoo search shows that Jim Fern has done work with
on Spider-Man, Superman, CrossGen's Scion along with some other stuff.

While these weren't what I expected they are starting to grow on me.

That Magnus seems to be in the classic style, which is really nice. Seems to be really solid inks too. Its always interesting to see artists who did not originally work on the books interpretations of these characters

Is Magnus doing an 80's version of the Electric Slide or is it the Macarena?

Does the Solar have a little bit of Quesada influence, or is it just me?

Ditto....

What was the quote that Solar said when fighting the alien X-O "I'm a scientist, not a warrior" (or something along those lines).

Even Shooter had Solar (Phil?) assume more of a heroic pose during the run of A&O. It's a logical assumption that he'd keep buffing up, comic geek fanboy that he was/is and all'a that.

Dan--I like the Solar one more than the Magnus one, truth be told (although both are nice additions to anyone's collection). Hmm. Might be time to commission a piece again...

Anthony,
Glad you like the Solar piece. Commissions can be fun and addictive. I'm trying to figure out who to do my next ones!
